Effectiveness

How Eskalith Cr Affects PatientsThe exact way that lithium works is not completely understood. It may work by blocking certain enzymes or altering how our body responds to glutamate, a type of chemical messenger.
How Eskalith Cr works in the bodyThe exact mechanism of how lithium works is not known. The most likely explanation is that it affects three different parts of the cell. First, lithium prevents an enzyme from breaking down inositol, a molecule found in the cell. Second, it blocks another enzyme from working, although the effects of this are not fully understood. Third, it helps regulate a protein called GSK-3, which controls other proteins through a process called phosphorylation. It may also prevent GSK-3 from working by blocking the magnesium ion in its active site.

Studies with animals have shown that too much lithium can affect male reproductive organs, sperm production, and testosterone levels. There is conflicting evidence about the effects of lithium during the first trimester of pregnancy. If a pregnant woman needs to take lithium, their dosage should be closely monitored and decreased or stopped a few days before giving birth. Eskalith Cr for Bipolar Depression
I've tried a lot of different medications over the years, and this one is definitely the most effective. It's tough on your body, but it really does work. Maybe not in the way you would expect, but it does help to level you out as much as possible.

I was on this medication for around 6 months, but it didn't help me as much as I thought it would. I've since tried other medications (Ativan and Strattera) that have worked better for me.
