How Women'S Rogaine Affects Patients

Minoxidil is a drug that is taken orally and applied topically to treat high blood pressure and hair loss, respectively. It works by widening the blood vessels and increasing blood flow in the body. When taken, it has been observed to increase forearm blood flow while keeping renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate the same. Minoxidil's effects are mainly in the arteries which is why postural hypotension is not typically seen with its use. Its antihypertensive properties come from its metabolite, minoxidil sulfate.

How Women'S Rogaine works in the body

Minoxidil is believed to help hair cells survive by activating two proteins, ERK and Akt. It also increases the ratio of a protein that helps cells stay alive. Minoxidil may also help hair grow by keeping the cells in a stage that allows them to reproduce. In addition, it works as a vasodilator to open up blood vessels and help keep the hair cells healthy.

Women'S Rogaine for Hair Loss

After using this product for several weeks, I was really disappointed to find that it did nothing more than cause my hair to fall out. Definitely not worth the money.

Women'S Rogaine for Hair Loss

I had originally chalked up my racing heart and anxiety attacks to stress, but after doing some research, I realized that it was likely this product. I stopped using it yesterday and have already noticed an improvement; however, I'm still experiencing some effects. All in all, not a great experience.

Despite using this treatment for over a year, I have not seen any improvement in my hair loss. In fact, it seems like the problem has gotten worse. Save your money and don't bother with this product.

Women'S Rogaine for Hair Loss

My hair was getting very thin before I started this treatment. After only three months, new hair growth was visible in the areas where my bangs used to be. Now, nine months later, my head is looking full and healthy again!

Women'S Rogaine for Hair Loss

I've used Rogaine 5% for Women for the past two years. I'm 79 now, and while I have seen some small hairs/fuzz at my temples, there hasn't been a ton of new growth. That said, my hairdresser believes it's helping to prevent further hair loss and thinks I should continue using it.

Women'S Rogaine for Hair Loss

I would not suggest using this product as I had a serious allergic reaction to it. My face, eyes, ears and neck all swelled up within days of applying the foam; it was honestly quite frightening. It took about a month for me to react to the minoxidil, so please be vigilant if you choose to use this product.

Women'S Rogaine for Hair Loss

After using Rogaine as directed by my doctor on the sides of my head for four weeks with no side effects, I called Rogaine. They then told me to stop usage because it hasn't been tested for that purpose yet. When consulting my dermatologist again, he said to continue using it how originally instructed. I'm not sure if there's any harm in using this product on the sides of head-- can somebody let me know?

Women'S Rogaine for Hair Loss

About three weeks in and I've already noticed my hair thinning out. I'm really upset because I had such thick and luscious hair before starting this treatment. Here's hoping that it starts thickening again soon, as per what I've heard from other users.

Women'S Rogaine for Hair Loss

Do not use this! I did for nine months, and it made my hair thinning worse. It also damaged my scalp; I had to see a dermatologist. I'm almost totally bald now. The only reason this product is still on the market is because new people are using it and finding out what it's really like.
