What is Endometrin

ProgesteroneThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryProgesterone is a naturally occurring hormone in women that helps with fertility, implantation of the embryo, and maintaining a successful pregnancy. Low progesterone levels or an insufficient response to progesterone can cause infertility and pregnancy loss. Progesterone is also used in various contraceptive preparations to prevent ovulation and fertilization as well as other formulations to support pregnancy. The pharmaceutical form of progesterone is a chemically identical copy of the human ovarian form and is available in various forms like capsules, gel, tablets, inserts, and injections.

Effectiveness

How Endometrin Affects PatientsProgesterone is a hormone that can have different effects depending on concentration and how it is taken. In general, it helps the uterus prepare for pregnancy and prevents ovulation. Progesterone is taken orally as a capsule, applied as a gel or insert vaginally, injected intramuscularly, or taken as a contraceptive tablet. When taken as a capsule, it opposes the effects of estrogen, decreases and thickens cervical mucous, and helps the endometrium become more suitable for a growing embryo. When applied vaginally, it mimics the effects of naturally occurring progesterone and helps develop decidual tissue
How Endometrin works in the bodyProgesterone binds to its own special receptor inside cells. This receptor helps signals to maintain the endometrium, or the lining of the uterus. Progesterone also changes the cervical mucus, making it hard for sperm to swim through. It also stops follicle-stimulating hormone, which can cause ovulation. When used perfectly, it has a 0.5% failure rate at preventing pregnancy. If used normally, the failure rate is estimated to be 5%.

When to interrupt dosage

The measure of Endometrin is contingent upon the established disorder, including hormonal discrepancy, Female Infertility and Postmenopause. The amount of dosage is subject to the technique of delivery, as specified in the table beneath.

Endometrin Toxicity & Overdose RiskThe toxic dose of progesterone for rats is 327 mg/kg. While some forms of progesterone can be used during pregnancy, high doses can affect fertility and cause tumors in animals. Some studies have suggested that using combined oral contraceptives may increase the risk of breast cancer, but no clear evidence has been found for progestin-only contraceptives. Progesterone can be found in breast milk, but it does not appear to negatively affect babies. However, there have been isolated cases of decreased milk production reported.

Endometrin for Infertility caused by Deficiency of a Hormone-Progesterone
I followed the instructions and took this medicine twice daily, once in the morning and once at night. My progesterone levels were good at 15. However, I still miscarried. Additionally, I experienced bleeding while taking this medication which was inconvenient.

Endometrin for Infertility caused by Deficiency of a Hormone-Progesterone
I've been on this progesterone regimen for a little over a week now, taking it four times daily. The spotting has been the most uncomfortable side effect, but I am hopeful that it means the medication is working.

Endometrin for Infertility caused by Deficiency of a Hormone-Progesterone
The main downside to this drug is that it gives you a really dry vagina. It's not the progesterone, it's the pill itself. I literally feel like my vag is full of plaster. But other than that, it's been fine.
