No Placebo GroupAll trial participants will receive the active study treatment (no placebo)

Trial Summary

Will I have to stop taking my current medications?

The trial does not specify if you need to stop taking your current medications, but you cannot participate if you regularly use antibiotics, probiotics, prebiotics, Orlistat, Cetilistat, or laxatives, or if you are undergoing hormone replacement therapy.

How does the treatment Whole egg powder differ from other treatments for postmenopausal health?

Whole egg powder is unique because it provides choline in a natural form bound to phospholipids, which is absorbed more efficiently than synthetic choline supplements. This natural choline source may improve bone health and reduce inflammation without increasing cholesterol levels, offering additional benefits compared to standard choline supplements.12345

What is the purpose of this trial?

The goal of this clinical trial is to find out if dairy is a good source of choline compared to eggs. The main questions it aims to answer are:* How the body uses choline; and,* What effect WPPC has on choline metabolism.Researchers will compare Whey Protein Phospholipid Concentrate (WPPC) to whole egg powder to see if WPPC is as effective as eggs.Participants will drink a chocolate-flavored drink mixed with either WPPC or whole egg powder.

Eligibility Criteria

This trial is for postmenopausal individuals interested in understanding how their bodies use choline, a nutrient important for liver function, brain development, and muscle movement. Participants should be healthy with no major dietary restrictions that would prevent them from consuming dairy or eggs.

I do not have chronic kidney disease.
I am willing to drink chocolate-flavored study drinks.
I am between 51 and 70 years old.

Interventions

  • Whole egg powder
  • WPPC
Trial Overview The study is testing the effectiveness of Whey Protein Phospholipid Concentrate (WPPC), a dairy product, against whole egg powder in providing choline to the body. Participants will consume a chocolate-flavored drink containing one of these ingredients to see which one improves choline metabolism better.
