Effectiveness

How Edex Affects Patients

Loperamide is a medication used to treat diarrhea. It works by slowing down movement in the digestive system, absorbing more fluids, and making stool thicker. It also helps to reduce fecal volume and tighten the anal sphincter, which can help reduce incontinence and improve bowel control. Generally, loperamide will take about an hour to start working, and its effects can last up to three days. While it typically does not cause pain relief, very high doses of loperamide may cross the blood-brain barrier and cause opioid effects. At very high levels, loperamide can interfere with the heart's electrical signals

How Edex works in the body

Loperamide works by blocking opioid receptors in the intestine. This stops nerve signals from being sent and reduces the release of chemicals like acetylcholine and prostaglandins. As a result, your intestine absorbs more water and slows down the movement of food through the intestines, making your stools dryer and harder.

When to interrupt dosage

The recommended measure of Edex is subject to the specified circumstance, including Diarrhea, Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis and Intestinal stoma leak. The measure of dosage can be found in the subsequent table, contingent upon the method of administration.

Edex Toxicity & Overdose Risk

A toxic dose of loperamide in rats is 185mg/kg. Taking doses of loperamide much higher than the recommended dose can lead to dangerous heart problems, like abnormal heart rhythms, fainting, heart attack, and even death. Loperamide overdose can also cause side effects such as confusion, poor coordination, sleepiness, pupil constriction, muscle tension, trouble breathing, and reduced movement of the intestines. Naloxone can be used to reverse the effects of loperamide overdose.

Edex for Inability to have an Erection

I'm 66, and I've been using Edex for over a year. I think my penis size has modestly increased during that time? After prostate surgery left me with a permanently flaccid penis, I was desperate to find a solution. Edex (20mg) completely changed my life. Erections last 180 minutes each time, followed by 30 minutes to slowly subside. Has anyone else experienced an increase in penis size from regular use of Edex?

Edex for Inability to have an Erection

I've been using EDEX for a while now, and it's been great. I always get really hard erections, which is amazing compared to when I was a teenager. They usually last for an hour or so, but sometimes I don't orgasm at all. Not sure if that's the EDEX or not, but either way it's still pretty good

Edex for Maintain the Patency of Ductus Arteriosus

Viagra made me feel faint and Cialis was unreliable, but this medication worked great for me. Only ten minutes after injection, I had a full erection that lasted awhile. It's a bit pricey, though I have heard from other users that you can get a cheaper version of this mixture from your pharmacist.

fMRI for Cognitive Flexibility

18 - 35
All Sexes
Iowa City, IA

The goal of this basic experimental research study is to examine how the human thalamus supports flexible thinking and behavior. Specifically, the research aims to elucidate how the mediodorsal (MD) thalamus encodes and updates "context"-the mental framework that determines which rules or actions are relevant in a given situation. This work may contribute to understanding why certain psychiatric conditions, such as schizophrenia and ADHD, involve difficulties with cognitive flexibility and control. The primary research questions are: Does the MD thalamus represent the context that organizes how working memory guides task selection? Does the MD thalamus signal when context needs to be updated after a change in task demands? Do these thalamic representations support generalization to new situations or rules? Participants will complete cognitive tasks while undergoing high-resolution brain imaging using 7-Tesla MRI. The investigators will combine behavioral data, computational modeling, and advanced neuroimaging analyses to examine how the thalamus interacts with the cortex during flexible decision-making.

Emraclidine for Schizophrenia

18 - 65
All Sexes
Little Rock, AR

Schizophrenia is a common and severe psychiatric illness characterized by extreme disturbances of cognition and thought, affecting language, perception and sense of self. This study will assess adverse events, change in disease activity, and how oral emraclidine moves through the body in adult participants with schizophrenia Emraclidine is an investigational drug being developed for the treatment of schizophrenia. Participants are placed in one of two parts, Part A or Part B, where each group will receive a different treatment. Participants will receive either oral emraclidine or placebo. Approximately 258 participants will be enrolled across roughly 32 sites in the United States. Participants in Part A will be assigned to one of multiple ascending doses of emraclidine or placebo administered orally for 14 days or up to 21 days. Participants in Part B will receive Emraclidine or placebo administered orally for up to 42 days. Participants will be followed for 30 days after the last dose of the study drug. There may be higher treatment burden for participants in this trial compared to their standard of care. Participants will attend regular visits during the study at a hospital or clinic. The effect of the treatment will be checked by medical assessments, blood tests, checking for side effects and completing questionnaires.

Ketamine vs Fentanyl for Sedation in Interventional Radiology

18 - 90
All Sexes
Charleston, WV

This study aims to reduce pain during interventional radiology (IR) procedures, making the experience better for patients. Typically, doctors use medications like fentanyl and midazolam for sedation. This research will focus on patients undergoing biopsies and drainage procedures, often associated with significant discomfort. Patients will be randomly assigned to receive either fentanyl/midazolam or ketamine/midazolam combinations for sedation. A coordinator will collect information on pain levels and satisfaction, as well as monitor any extra medications needed and side effects. The investigators hope to find that ketamine helps decrease pain and improves satisfaction compared to fentanyl, without increasing complications.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation for Schizophrenia

18 - 50
All Sexes
Cleveland, OH

The purpose of this study is to understand how different types of community-based mental health care affect thinking abilities, daily functioning, and brain activity in adults with schizophrenia and related conditions. The investigators are especially interested in learning whether the Clubhouse Model-a structured, supportive community for individuals with mental illness-has unique benefits compared to standard outpatient mental health services. If participants decide to join, they will be asked to complete a total of six study visits with the research team over the course of your participation. Three of these study visits are at the beginning (baseline) and the remaining three are six months later. Two of the three visits will includes interviews, questionnaires, and thinking and memory tasks (cognitive testing) and one session will be an MRI brain scan, which is a safe and non-invasive imaging procedure. The total time required for each visit will be approximately 90 minutes to two hours. Participants may take breaks as needed.
