What is Celestone

BetamethasoneThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryBetamethasone is a steroid medication that reduces inflammation and suppresses the immune system. It is applied to the skin to treat various skin conditions, such as eczema, and can also be given as an injection to treat medical conditions like autoimmune disorders. Effectiveness

How Celestone Affects PatientsCorticosteroids are drugs that help reduce inflammation and prevent pro-inflammatory signals. They can be taken in doses that are much higher than the body's natural levels. People who take corticosteroids for a long time should be aware of the risks of suppressing the body's natural hormone system and being more likely to get infections.
How Celestone works in the bodyGlucocorticoids like betamethasone reduce inflammation by blocking molecules that cause inflammation, such as NF-Kappa B and other inflammatory transcription factors. They also reduce the production of molecules that cause inflammation, like arachidonic acid derivatives. Glucocorticoids also stimulate anti-inflammatory genes, like interleukin-10. They can act quickly by using existing membrane-bound receptors and second messengers, or they can work more slowly by activating glucocorticoid receptors and promoting anti-inflammatory genes.

When to interrupt dosage

The suggested dose of Celestone is contingent upon the observed disorder, for example Ankylosing Spondylitis, Adrenal cortical hypofunctions and Post Surgical Ocular Inflammation. The measure of dosage fluctuates as per the technique of delivery (e.g. Topical or Solution - Oral) delineated in the table below.

Celestone for Inflammation of the Sac Surrounding the Joint - Bursitis
I was diagnosed with shingles in January 2011. Since I'm allergic to the pills that treat this disorder, they decided to try a shot. So far, I've been feeling really tired and lethargic. I just got it administered yesterday and am still unable to sleep because of the lingering pain. I'm seeing my doctor in the morning to see if it's working or not.
