How Caldolor Affects PatientsIbuprofen can be used to reduce pain, fever, and inflammation. It works by blocking the production of prostanoids, which are involved in pain and fever, and increases beta-endorphins in the body. Ibuprofen can be used to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with rheumatic diseases and dysmenorrhea, and can help reduce fever and pain from migraines. It is also being investigated for its potential to reduce neurodegeneration and symptoms of Parkinson's disease, as well as reduce the risk of breast cancer.
How Caldolor works in the bodyIbuprofen works by blocking an enzyme called cyclooxygenase. This enzyme is involved in the production of substances that cause pain and fever, as well as blood clotting. Ibuprofen stops both types of this enzyme from working, reducing inflammation, pain, fever, and swelling. However, it also prevents the production of other substances that protect the stomach lining, which can cause side effects like ulcers.
