How Caldolor Affects Patients

Ibuprofen can be used to reduce pain, fever, and inflammation. It works by blocking the production of prostanoids, which are involved in pain and fever, and increases beta-endorphins in the body. Ibuprofen can be used to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with rheumatic diseases and dysmenorrhea, and can help reduce fever and pain from migraines. It is also being investigated for its potential to reduce neurodegeneration and symptoms of Parkinson's disease, as well as reduce the risk of breast cancer.

How Caldolor works in the body

Ibuprofen works by blocking an enzyme called cyclooxygenase. This enzyme is involved in the production of substances that cause pain and fever, as well as blood clotting. Ibuprofen stops both types of this enzyme from working, reducing inflammation, pain, fever, and swelling. Taking more than 99mg/kg of ibuprofen can lead to abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, vertigo, drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, headaches, loss of consciousness, ringing in the ears, depression of the central nervous system, seizures and convulsions. In rare cases, metabolic acidosis, abnormal liver function, high potassium levels, kidney failure, difficulty breathing, coma, and apnea (mainly in very young children) have been reported. Caldolor for Pain

My surgeon prescribed this for me during my knee surgery. They put it in my IV while I was asleep, and when I woke up they told me that I had a button for morphine if needed--but thankfully, I never had to use it!
