How Lamictal Xr Affects Patients

Lamictal Xr Toxicity & Overdose Risk

The lowest toxic dose of lamotrigine in mice and rats has been found to be 205 mg/kg and 245 mg/kg respectively. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include difficulty walking, involuntary eye movements, increased seizures, loss of consciousness, coma, and slowed electrical signals in the heart. There is no known antidote for an overdose of lamotrigine, but hospitalization and supportive care should be administered. Doctors may choose to use stomach pumping or vomiting to remove the drug from the body, and dialysis may be used to help remove lamotrigine from the blood.

Lamictal Xr for Bipolar Depression

I have complex partial seizures and I take 400 mg Lamictal XR 2x a day and 100 topamax at bed. I had some problems when I started taking it, but that's not unusual for me whenever I start a new medication. It's worked well for my seizures though.

Since starting this medication, I've definitely had fewer seizures. It's only been nine days so it's hard to say how well it will work in the long run, but so far I'm impressed. This drug also gives me a lot of energy, which is great for someone with MS who often feels fatigue. The downside is that it makes me dizzy and more forgetful, but overall I think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

This medication has been controlling my seizures very well, for which I'm grateful. However, it comes with some nasty side effects like nausea and headaches. The worst part is the teeth grinding and muscle tensioning in my head and face. If anyone else has experienced this, please let me know!

Epidiolex for Epilepsy

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn the best way to switch children with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome (LGS) or Dravet Syndrome (DS) taking 'artisanal' (non pharmaceutical-grade) cannabidiol (CBD) to Epidiolex for treatment of seizures. The main questions it aims to answer are: * How well does a gradual switch from 'artisanal' CBD to Epidiolex work? * Does the same dose of Epidiolex as 'artisanal' CBD work best? * What side-effects or medical problems do participants have when switching from 'artisanal' CBD to Epidiolex? Researchers will examine how successful switching from 'artisanal' CBD to Epidiolex is. Participants will: * Gradually increase their dose of Epidiolex and reduce their dose of 'artisanal' CBD until they are taking just Epidiolex * Visit the clinic five times over 20 weeks for checkups and tests * Keep a diary of their seizures, symptoms and the number of times they use a rescue seizure medication
