Hydrocodone is a synthetic painkiller derived from codeine. It is usually used in combination with acetaminophen to manage moderate to severe pain. In the past, hydrocodone was also used as a cough suppressant, but this has been largely replaced with dextromethorphan in cough and cold medications. How Axid Affects Patients

Hydrocodone is a painkiller that works by blocking pain signals in the brain and spine. It can also create feelings of euphoria, make it harder to breathe, and make people feel sleepy.

How Axid works in the body

Hydrocodone binds to two types of opioid receptors, the mu and delta receptors. It is the mu receptor that is primarily responsible for its pain-relieving effects. Hydrocodone works by preventing neurons from sending signals to the brain that cause pain. It also inhibits neurons that would normally be activated by glutamate. In addition, it can activate neurons in the brain responsible for pleasure and reward, which can lead to addiction. Other treatments like IV fluids, oxygen, and medicines to raise blood pressure may be needed. In some cases, a medicine called naloxone may be used to reverse the effects of the overdose. I've been using Axid for a long time and it's really helped me with heartburn, acid indigestion, and burning throat. I'm finding it hard to locate now. What's up with this??? IT'S WONDERFUL!!! Please tell me where to get it now that Wal-Mart doesn't carry it any longer.

Axid for Inflammation of Esophagus from Backflow of Stomach Acid

I've had stomach problems for a while now, and this is the only treatment that has worked for me. My doctor prescribed it to me, and it seems to be doing its job; I had a test done on my stomach that showed the ulcers were healing within a week of starting to take the medicine. I'm really grateful for this medication because it's helping me get rid of my stomach pains and other issues.
