Actos Reviews: What are patients saying about Actos?
5Patient Review
8/14/2014 Glimprideride (3mg) twice daily in conjunction with ACTOS has helped to keep my sugar levels at a healthy 100 or lower, especially in the morning before eating. I've been taking this medication for years with few issues and would recommend it to others.
5Patient Review
1/8/2016 Actos really helped to get my A-1c down to a healthy level. I was taken off the medication for a period of time, but my levels shot back up without it. I'm glad to be back on it and feeling better than ever.
4Patient Review
7/4/2014 Actos has been keeping my blood sugar levels around 130 for the past year, which is a significant improvement from before. However, I have also gained 25 pounds in that time frame. Additionally, I've been experiencing some shortness of breath. My doctor is putting me on Januvia now.
4Patient Review
12/20/2014 I was taking 45mg daily, and within the last 6 months I cut that dose in half without any effect on my glucose levels. My A1c has been around 7 for years now. After taking Actos for around 10 years, my new endocrinologist suggests not using it further because of potential side effects (stated in these reviews). None of which I have experienced. Questions: What are the expected side effects of stopping Actos short term and long term?
4Patient Review
8/24/2014 I have gained 50 pounds since starting this medication. I don't think that's good, especially because it seems like I'm retaining fluid.

6/28/2014 I was able to eat whatever I wanted for years while on this medication, but after stopping I lost 80lbs in a year. Additionally, I no longer had to get up multiple times per night to urinate. However, I believe this medicine is bad overall.

11/9/2018 I switched from Lantus and Jardiance to Actos, but my blood sugar has only gone up about 10 points. I'm going to try doubling the dose and see if that makes a difference.
3Patient Review
11/20/2018 About six weeks after starting to take Actos, I developed very severe muscle pain in my right arm. It extended from my shoulder to my hand, so I stopped taking the medication.
2.3Patient Review
4/12/2019 I gained weight and saw an increase in swelling of my legs, ankles, and feet while taking this medication. I also experienced a lot of muscle and joint pain. Today is the first day that I've stopped taking it, and I start Januvia tomorrow. Overall, I would not recommend this drug to anyone.
2.3Patient Review
9/9/2015 I was on Actos for five years, taking 30mg in the morning and 15pm. For the last two years, I've had terrible leg cramping and pain, but my doctor refused to take me off the medication! Recently, I lost 80lbs and ended up in the hospital with a blood sugar level of 24. Now I'm being tested for bladder and liver cancer. In my opinion, this is a bad drug!
1.7Patient Review
5/8/2019 Exhausted all the time, even though I used to be very active. It's gotten to the point where everyday activities are difficult because my legs feel so heavy. My doctor switched me from Amaryl to Actos because I had PECOS, and I'm also hypothyroid. As a result of being on this medication, I've started gaining weight despite not changing my diet, and I have constant issues with leaking urine. This has been really tough to deal with for the past month, and I'm hoping that things improve after I get more lab work done.
1Patient Review
8/21/2016 Overall feeling terrible after taking this medication. I experienced extra mucus, a runny nose, excessive fatigue, swelling of my feet and legs, headaches, bile attacks, gas and diarrhea. I also felt off balance and had shortness of breath. Not recommended.
1Patient Review
12/7/2019 Since taking this medication, I have had zero control over my blood sugar. It would suddenly drop without any warning, and it got to the point where driving became too dangerous. I blacked out while driving once, so I stopped taking the medication that day. My doctor wanted me to keep taking it, but I refused.
1Patient Review
1/21/2019 Do not take Actos. Please read the reviews before making a decision. This drug has caused many health problems for people, including death in some cases.
