How Zaditor Affects Patients
Ketotifen is a medication that helps to prevent asthma attacks by blocking the effects of substances that cause inflammation. It takes about 6-12 weeks for this drug to start working. Studies have found that ketotifen can reduce the number, intensity, and duration of asthma attacks, and may allow the use of fewer other medications for the condition.
How Zaditor works in the body
Ketotifen blocks allergic reactions in the body by blocking a type of cell receptor that reacts to histamine. It also helps to stabilize cells that release inflammatory mediators like histamine and leukotrienes, which can cause irritation and inflammation. Additionally, it has been observed that it helps to prevent airway hyperactivity, and stops eosinophils and platelets from accumulating in the airways. It also helps to reduce bronchoconstriction caused by leukotrienes, and suppresses priming of eosinophils.

The advised dosage of Zaditor is contingent upon the identified condition, including Asthma, Allergic, Allergic Conjunctivitis (AC) and Hay Fever. The measure of dosage fluctuates according to the method of delivery (e.g. Solution or Ophthalmic) featured in the table underneath.

How many times a day can I use Zaditor?
"The recommended dose of Zaditor for adults and children 3 years of age and older is 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily. The medication should be taken every 8-12 hours, no more than twice per day."

Whats the difference between Pataday and Zaditor?
"If you're looking for an over-the-counter medication to treat itchy eyes caused by allergies, Zaditor (ketotifen) is the first choice. However, it won't work for infections, and it may not be effective for severe allergies. It starts working in less than 30 minutes, and it's safe to use in children aged 2 or older. Another option is Pataday (olopatadine), which is a once-daily formulation."
