How Terramycin works in the bodyOxytetracycline stops cell growth by blocking the ability of cells to turn genetic information into proteins. It binds to the ribosome, which is a structure that helps create proteins. This binding is temporary, so the cells are able to recover. Oxytetracycline is fat-soluble, so it can easily pass through the cell membrane or move in and out of bacteria through tiny channels.
