What is Vivelle

EstradiolThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryEstradiol is a hormone naturally found in females. It is used in hormone therapy to treat conditions caused by low estrogen levels, such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Estradiol can be taken orally, injected, used as a vaginal ring, patch, spray, gel, or cream. To make it more suitable for oral use, estradiol is usually combined with an ester side-chain, such as ethinyl estradiol (EE). EE is commonly used in combination with other drugs to form oral contraceptive pills.

Effectiveness

How Vivelle Affects PatientsEstradiol is used to reduce symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness. It has also been shown to increase bone density and make changes to the body's lipid profile. Taking estradiol can also increase the levels of certain proteins in the liver, such as sex hormone binding globulin and thyroid-binding globulin, and suppress the production of follicle-stimulating hormone in the pituitary gland. However, it can also lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, blood clots, strokes, and hypertension. It can cause a hyper-coagulable state, which is associated with pregnancy and
How Vivelle works in the bodyEstrogen is found in many parts of the body, including the brain, skin, and reproductive organs. In women who are still menstruating, estrogen is mainly produced by the ovaries. After menopause, the main source of estrogen is the adrenal glands. Estrogen works by attaching to two types of receptors, ERα and ERβ, as well as a receptor called GPER. Once attached, it enters the nucleus of the target cell and changes how certain genes are expressed. This results in certain effects, such as reducing symptoms like hot flashes, chills, mood swings, and dryness in postmenopausal women.

When to interrupt dosage

The advised dosage of Vivelle is contingent upon the diagnosed condition, such as Premature Menopause, Pharmaceutical Preparations and Postmenopause. The amount of dosage is subject to the mode of administration specified in the table below.

Vivelle for Low Estrogen After Operation to Remove Ovaries
This patch has been an absolute lifesaver for me. I had a bilateral oopherectomy and hysterectomy in 2009, and this patch has helped me manage my hot flashes and emotional menopausal state without any sexual side effects.

Vivelle for Low Estrogen After Operation to Remove Ovaries
I've found that as long as I follow the directions (clean and dry skin, no lotion) the patch stays on without any issues. Additionally, it's been really effective for me with zero negative side effects. I would definitely recommend it to others!

Vivelle for Low Estrogen After Operation to Remove Ovaries
I experienced some negative side effects while taking this drug, including breakouts, itching, and hair loss. I have since stopped taking it until I can speak to my doctor.

Vivelle for "Change of Life" Signs
The patch works well, but it doesn't stay on by itself. I had to put a large adhesive band-aid over it to keep it in place. This worked out well for me because the patch is effective.

Vivelle for Low Estrogen After Operation to Remove Ovaries
I really disliked this patch. It didn't stick well, wrinkled, and left adhesive marks. They're also pretty big, which is inconvenient when you have to wear two.

Vivelle for "Change of Life" Signs
The oval patch didn't stick well and caused me to breakout. The medication itself worked though.
