What is Trilipix
Fenofibric acidThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryFenofibric acid is a medication used to lower dangerous levels of cholesterol and triglycerides. It helps to lower bad cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol) while raising good cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein cholesterol). Fenofibric acid is not well absorbed by the body, so it is usually given as a prodrug or a conjugated compound to help it be more easily absorbed and more effective.

How Trilipix Affects PatientsStudies have linked high levels of total cholesterol, LDL (low-density-lipoprotein), and apolipoprotein B (a type of LDL) to atherosclerosis. Low levels of HDL (high-density-lipoprotein) and its transport complex (apolipoproteins apo AI and apo AII) have also been linked to atherosclerosis. Additionally, research suggests that cardiovascular problems and death risk increase with higher levels of total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides, but decrease with higher levels of HDL.Fenofibric acid, a metabolite of fenofibrate,
How Trilipix works in the bodyFenofibric acid helps reduce triglycerides and increase good cholesterol in the body. It does this by activating a receptor in the body called PPAR-alpha. This leads to an increase in lipolysis, which is the breakdown of fat. It also causes low-density-lipoprotein particles to become larger and more easily broken down by the body. Fenofibric acid also increases production of apoproteins A-I and A-II, which are proteins that help transport fats in the blood. Lastly, it can help reduce uric acid levels in the body by increasing the amount of uric acid excret

Trilipix Reviews: What are patients saying about Trilipix?
5Patient Review
6/12/2012 I developed a dry mouth and tongue around the same time. Wearing dentures becomes painful when my mouth gets too dry.
5Patient Review
4/18/2013 I've been using this treatment for two years and have seen a significant drop in my cholesterol levels. My HDL is down to 30, LDL 61, and TRIGLYCERIDES have gone from over 300 to 82. I take it with breakfast every day and don't notice any negative side effects.
5Patient Review
1/18/2014 I take this medicine in conjunction with Lipitor. While Lipitor lowered my triglyceride and LDL levels, it didn't increase my HDL levels. However, the combination of the two medications did the trick. I'm 5'8" and 142lbs, I exercise regularly and watch what I eat--but these lifestyle choices alone weren't enough. The only side effect I experienced was some muscle problems, but they were tolerable.
5Patient Review
10/14/2013 I had zero of the bad reactions that other people have described. In fact, my LDL (low-density lipoprotein) went down and HDL (high-density lipoprotein) up. The only issue I had was with the cost, but I've since switched to the generic version and it's working just as well.
