What is Tekturna Hct

HydrochlorothiazideThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryHydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic medication that is commonly used to treat edema (swelling) and high blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide is often combined with other medications, such as angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor blockers, to treat hypertension more effectively. It was approved by the FDA in 1959 and is still widely prescribed today, although it is becoming less common in favor of other medications.

Effectiveness

How Tekturna Hct Affects PatientsHydrochlorothiazide helps the body get rid of extra water in the urine. The amount taken is usually tailored to the individual and can go from 25-100mg. It is important to be aware of if someone has kidney or liver problems as they should take hydrochlorothiazide with caution.
How Tekturna Hct works in the bodyHydrochlorothiazide is transported into cells of the distal convoluted tubule and then to the lumen of the tubule by special proteins. Normally, sodium is reabsorbed into these cells and then pushed into the area around them by a sodium-potassium pump. This creates a difference in concentration that pulls water back into the cells. Hydrochlorothiazide blocks this process by stopping the sodium-chloride transporter from doing its job. This reduces the difference in concentration, so less water is reabsorbed.

When to interrupt dosage

The proposed dosage of Tekturna Hct is contingent upon the diagnosed disorder, including Antepartum magnesium sulfate prophylaxis, blood pressure inadequately managed with monotherapy and antihypertensives. The dosage also varies, in line with the method of delivery (e.g. Tablet, coated - Oral or Oral) as depicted in the table underneath.

Tekturna Hct Reviews: What are patients saying about Tekturna Hct?

5Patient Review

Tekturna Hct for High Blood Pressure
My blood pressure was out of control, and I had tried many different combinations of medications to try to bring it down. When Tekturna came on the market, my doctor suggested I give it a try. It worked immediately and has been keeping my blood pressure under control ever since. Prior to taking Tekturna, I was taking so much medication that I had no energy. This drug really gave me back my life.

Tekturna Hct for High Blood Pressure
I found the higher dosage of this drug to be very effective. However, it also caused me to feel tired and lethargic. After a few weeks on the drug, I had little energy and no sex drive.

Tekturna Hct for High Blood Pressure
I've been on this medication for over a year and it has done great things for my blood pressure. However, I have since found out that I have kidney stones in both of my kidneys. I've had to have two surgical procedures to break up the larger stones. If you're going to be using this medication, just be sure to see a renal doctor regularly to check your kidney function.

Tekturna Hct for High Blood Pressure
I'm glad it helped you, but I stopped taking tekturna after two years because I started experiencing a lot of health problems that I later found out were caused by the medication. These included Crohn's disease, low sugar levels, gallbladder removal, and fibromyalgia. So be careful not to take it for too long.
