What is Restoril

TemazepamThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryTemazepam is a medication often used to treat insomnia. It works by calming the brain and nervous system, and is sometimes prescribed to help relax the muscles. Temazepam is one of the most commonly prescribed medications around the world, but it has a high potential for misuse and can lead to addiction if not taken as prescribed. The US military uses temazepam as a sedative-hypnotic for soldiers and pilots to get adequate rest. It was first synthesized in 1965 and became widely available for civilian use soon after.

Effectiveness

How Restoril Affects PatientsTemazepam is a type of medication used to treat insomnia. It works by calming the central nervous system and increasing the amount of a chemical called GABA, which helps reduce anxiety and produce sleep. Clinical studies have shown that taking temazepam can help people fall asleep faster and sleep more deeply. However, it can cause rebound insomnia when the drug is stopped, and long-term use may lead to tolerance and dependence. The length of time temazepam works for and any side effects may depend on how quickly the body processes and eliminates the drug, so people taking it should be aware of the possibility of increased wakefulness and
How Restoril works in the bodyGABA is the main chemical that inhibits neuron activity in the body. When GABA binds to receptors in neuron synapses, it causes chloride ions to enter the cell, making it harder for the neuron to fire. Temazepam works by increasing the effects of GABA by making it easier for GABA to bind to its receptor. This increased binding of GABA to its receptor causes more chloride to enter the cell, further reducing neuron activity. This can result in sedation, relaxation of muscles, prevention of seizures, and reduced anxiety.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
I've had insomnia for years, and this is the only thing that's really helped me get some rest. I'm older now and can't go without it.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
Out of all the sleep medications I've tried, 30mg of Restoril has been the most effective for me. It's not perfect, but it does help me get to sleep most nights.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
This treatment has definitely saved my life, but I find that I need a nap every day now. Not sure if that's related, but it's worth noting. I've been on the treatment for about three months and have had no problems skipping a night here or there.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
Restoril is only effective if you don't use it every night, according to my doctor. It's for short-term use only. I've heard similar things about Dramamine. That said, it's still nice to have something for the occasional sleepless night.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
I've had trouble sleeping for the past few months. I got temazepan 15's and 1 pill before bedtime worked fine. Then shortly 1 pill wasn't doing anything so I took 2. After a bottle it wasn't working so I bumped up to the 30 mg. that worked a few days but now it's taking 3-4 30mg to knock me out. I sleep deeply for about 6 hours but then any sound immediately wakes me up and that's it. I'm up til the next night. Is this normal?

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
I tried this for the first time after not sleeping for two days and it was awful. I woke up frequently, my heart was racing, and I had severe leg cramps. There's no way I'm taking it again.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
I've been struggling with chronic insomnia for a while now, and I've tried so many different medications. Unfortunately, I only get about three nights of sleep per week even taking the maximum recommended dosage of 15mg. My doctor wanted me to increase my dosage to 30mg, but my body just couldn't handle it. I would love to find a more natural sleep aid that is less harsh on the body and has fewer side effects, but so far nothing has worked for me.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
The medication kept me up all night. I took my first dose at 10 pm and was awake until 2 am before finally falling asleep. However, I was only able to sleep for less than 30 minutes before being woken up again. This pattern continued throughout the night until I gave up and got out of bed at 6 am.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
I took one pill, and after an hour I fell asleep for about three hours. Then, I took another pill but didn't notice any effects even after lying down for two more hours. All in all, it's been about 72 hours since I've taken this medication and I've only gotten a total of three hours of sleep.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
I took this medication for a few months with no success. I was up all night and felt just as exhausted the next day. Definitely not recommended. Ambien worked best for me, but I can't get it prescribed anymore.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
I took Restoril once and it did nothing but make me feel drowsy for a few hours. I then experienced sudden loss of balance and fell, hitting my head in the process. Needless to say, I haven't taken it since.

Restoril for Chronic Trouble Sleeping
I wake up with headaches, dark eye circles, and feeling agitated after taking this medication. It's not worth it for the supposed six to eight hours of sleep.
