Effectiveness

How Pepcid Complete Affects Patients

Gastric-peptic disease is caused by an imbalance of things that can protect your stomach, like mucus and bicarbonate, and things that can cause harm, like acid and the bacteria Helicobacter pylori. Antacids help to restore balance by reducing acid and pepsin activity and increasing bicarbonate and prostaglandin production. Calcium carbonate is a type of antacid that neutralizes 58 mEq of acid per 15 ml. When taken as a supplement, it increases the amount of calcium stored in the body.

How Pepcid Complete works in the body

Calcium carbonate is a type of salt that helps neutralize stomach acid and block the effects of pepsin. It does this by raising the pH levels and preventing pepsin from working as it should. Calcium carbonate also helps protect cells by increasing bicarbonate and prostaglandins. When taken, it breaks down into calcium chloride, carbon dioxide and water. Most of the calcium chloride then turns into insoluble calcium salts like calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate.

When to interrupt dosage

The advised measure of Pepcid Complete is contingent upon the recognized disorder, including Gastric Ulcer, Dyspepsia and Acid indigestion. The dosage varies as indicated by the technique of delivery (e.g. Tablet or Oral) outlined in the table beneath.

Patient Q&A Section about pepcid complete

These questions and answers are submitted by anonymous patients, and have not been verified by our internal team.

What is so special about Pepcid Complete?

"There are two types of PEPCID AC, original and maximum strength, which both contain an H2 blocker that begins to work within 15-30 minutes. PEPCID Complete combines an H2 blocker with an antacid that starts neutralizing acid in your stomach almost immediately."

Answered by AI

Is it OK to take Pepcid Complete everyday?

"To avoid heartburn, take a tablet 15-60 minutes before eating or drinking anything that gives you heartburn. Do not take more than 2 tablets in 24 hours unless your doctor tells you to. Do not take this medicine for more than 14 days in a row without talking to your doctor."

Answered by AI

What are side effects of taking Pepcid Complete?

"You may experience diarrhea, headache, constipation, or stomach cramps. If you experience any of these effects for an extended period of time, or if they worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Your doctor has determined that the benefits of this medication outweigh the risks of side effects."

Answered by AI

What is the difference between PEPCID and Pepcid Complete?

"PEPCID is a medication that reduces stomach acid. Original Strength and Maximum Strength PEPCID AC start working in 15-30 minutes, and help control stomach acid all day or all night. Dual Action PEPCID COMPLETE combines an H2 blocker with an antacid, so it starts neutralizing acid in seconds, but has the long-lasting relief of an H2 blocker."

Kiwifruit Extract for Constipation in Children

4 - 17
All Sexes
Hamilton, Canada

The goal of this pilot feasibility randomized controlled trial is to determine whether Actazin (kiwifruit extract) is a feasible and effective alternative to polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG 3350) for maintenance therapy in children with functional constipation (FC). This study will include children aged 4 to 17 years who meet the Rome IV criteria for functional constipation. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is it feasible to conduct a definitive, multi-centre trial comparing Actazin to PEG 3350 in children with FC? 2. What are the within-group differences in clinical outcomes such as stool frequency, abdominal pain, and laxative use over a 4-week period? Researchers will compare chewable Actazin tablets with placebo PEG 3350 powder to PEG 3350 powder with placebo Actazin tablets to see if Actazin is a viable non-pharmacologic natural health product alternative for treating FC. Participants will: Undergo an initial bowel cleanout using PEG 3350 and bisacodyl. Following, they will be randomized to one of two groups: 1. Actazin chewable tablets (titrate to effect: 600-2400 mg/day) + placebo PEG 3350 2. PEG 3350 (dose based on age and titratable to effect) + placebo Actazin chewable tablets Participants will take the assigned intervention daily for 4 weeks and complete a daily bowel diary recording stool frequency, consistency (Bristol Stool Scale), abdominal pain, and laxative use. They will have weekly follow-ups via phone or electronic survey to assess adherence, medication use, and adverse events. Additionally, a bi-weekly follow-up will be conducted for an additional 8 weeks to track longer-term outcomes. Outcomes: Primary feasibility outcomes include consent rate, adherence to allocated intervention, and 4-week follow-up completion rate. Secondary clinical outcomes include resolution of FC (Rome IV criteria), weekly stool frequency, abdominal pain episodes, use of rescue laxatives, and treatment palatability. This study is being conducted at McMaster Children's Hospital and is funded by the Hamilton Academic Health Sciences Organization (HAHSO). Data collection will be managed using the Lumedi™ platform, and safety will be overseen by a Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB).

Pelvic Health Rehabilitation for Breast and Gynecologic Cancer

18+
Female
Edmonton, Canada

The GYVE study aims at testing an online program (eModule) to help people who have had breast or gynecologic cancer and are experiencing pelvic health issues like urinary incontinence and pain during sex. These cancers and their treatments can cause significant pelvic health problems, affecting daily life and quality of life. Physiotherapy can help, but access is often limited due to costs and other barriers. The study will involve 20 participants from Quebec and Edmonton, who will take part in a 12-week program with weekly online group sessions led by a physiotherapist. Topics include pelvic floor muscle training, use of vaginal moisturizers, hydration, diet, and pain management. Led by experts in cancer rehabilitation and pelvic health, the study aims to provide valuable information on the feasibility and effectiveness of the eModule, potentially leading to broader implementation to help more people with lived experience of cancer.

Biofeedback for Functional Abdominal Bloating

18 - 80
All Sexes
Los Angeles, CA

Background. Abdominal distention is produced by an abnormal somatic postural tone. The authors developed an original biofeedback technique. In a randomized, placebo-controlled trial the authors demonstrated the superiority of biofeedback over placebo for the treatment of abdominal distention. However, the technique is technically complex and unpractical. Aim. To prove the efficacy of a noninstrumental biofeedback technique, transmitted by a standard training program, for the treatment of abdominal distension in different centers. Selection criteria. Episodes of visible abdominal distension. Intervention. Patients will be randomized into biofeedback and placebo groups. Three sessions of either biofeedback or placebo intervention will be performed during the first 3 weeks of the intervention period. Biofeedback: Patients will be taught to control abdominal and thoracic muscular activity by providing instructions using an original video support. In each center one operator will receive a standard training on how to deliver the noninstrumental biofeedback treatment. Patients will be instructed to perform the same exercises before and after breakfast, lunch and dinner during the 4-week intervention period. Placebo: Sham measurements of abdominal and thoracic motion will be performed, and a pill of placebo containing 0.21 g glucose will be administered; patients will be instructed to take a pill of placebo before breakfast, lunch and dinner during the 4-week intervention period.
