Effectiveness

How Ofev Affects PatientsNintedanib is a drug that blocks certain enzymes, helping to stop the growth of fibroblasts and cells in tumours. Taking this drug carries a risk of liver damage, so liver function tests must be done before starting the drug and regularly during the first three months. People with existing liver problems should not take Nintedanib.
How Ofev works in the bodyNintedanib is a medicine used to treat diseases such as lung fibrosis, non-small cell lung cancer, and systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease. It works by blocking certain proteins that help cells grow and spread. These proteins are known as receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) and non-receptor tyrosine kinases (nRTKs). Nintedanib binds to the ATP-binding pocket of these proteins and stops them from working. This action stops the growth and spread of cells, including those in tumour tissue. It also inhibits signalling pathways in the cells, which

Ofev for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
I was diagnosed with IPF in August of 2018 and after taking prednisone for a bit my Dr switched me Ofev. I've been on this therapy for a while now and according to my pulmonary Dr my lungs have not worsened although they are stable for now.

Ofev for Lung Fibrosis
I was diagnosed with IPF and started taking Esbriet, but it made me so incredibly tired. My pulmonologist switched me to OFEV and I feel SO much better. There are barely any side effects and my lung functions have been stable for six months now.

Ofev for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
I've only been on the medication for three weeks, but I already have much more energy. My cough is also almost entirely gone. The diarrhea is a bit of an issue, but it's manageable. Napping has become a regular part of my afternoon routine since starting this drug, but I know it's still early days yet.

Ofev for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
After taking this medication for five months, I started having severe diarrhea. However, Imodium in the morning and a banana with each dose of the medication, as well as a daily probiotic, really helped. I would recommend this to anyone else experiencing similar problems.

Ofev for Lung Fibrosis
I was diagnosed 12/2015 and have been taking Ofev for 4 months. I'm not sure how effective it is, but I might get a better idea from a CT scan. Fatigue and mild diarrhea are the only side effects I've experienced so far.

Ofev for Lung Fibrosis
I was diagnosed in 2016 and started this treatment a few months ago. I'm working and haven't experienced any side effects yet, which may have something to do with my age/weight/general health.

Ofev for Lung Fibrosis
I began taking Esbriet as part of a clinical trial in 2014. However, by 2016 my doctor switched me to OFEV after noticing that my IPF had progressed significantly. OFEV is only 2 pills at 150mg each, while Esbriet was 9 pills at 267mg each. Additionally, Esbriet would make me drowsy and I'd fall asleep within 30 minutes of taking it; however, the only side effect I've experienced with OFEV is a rash which can be treated with Benedryl. It's hard to say if either medication works better than the other, but we do what we can and hope

Ofev for progressive fibrosing interstitial lung disease
About three weeks into treatment, I started noticing that I was more tired than usual and having trouble catching my breath. This got progressively worse over the next few months to the point where even simple tasks like getting dressed for work would leave me out of breath. I stopped taking the medication in hopes of returning to my previous level of fitness, but so far it hasn't made much difference.

Ofev for Lung Fibrosis
I was placed on this drug by a lung specialist, but had to stop taking it after just three weeks due to its constant side effects of bathroom trips, dizziness, and weakness. Blue Cross also reversed the charge for the second prescription because of its ineffectiveness.

Ofev for Lung Fibrosis
I was on this medication for eight months and saw very slow progress. However, once I started taking Ofev, my symptoms got much worse. I constantly felt nauseous and had a hard time breathing. This drug did not help me at all, so I stopped taking it.

Ofev for Lung Fibrosis
I took Ofev for seven weeks to try and treat my pulmonary fibrosis, but unfortunately saw zero benefit. On the contrary, I felt generally horrible the entire time I was on it--back pain, stomach pains, diarrhea. It's possible that I'm too far gone for this medication to be effective.

Ofev for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
My pulmonary fibrosis had been progressing very slowly over years, but when I was put on Ofev, all of my symptoms got worse. Now I'm constantly coughing and feeling short of breath, on top of the nausea I already felt most of the time. This drug doesn't seem to be helping at all and so I've decided to stop taking it.

Ofev for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
I have had pulmonary fibrosis for a number of years and tried OFEV for two months. There were terrible side effects with no benefits that I could see. It made me feel nauseous, gave me diarrhea, and caused sharp pains in my sides. discontinuing use was the best decision I ever made regarding this drug.
