Effectiveness

How Hydroxyzine Pamoate Affects PatientsHydroxyzine helps reduce symptoms of allergies such as itching, and can also be used as a sedative and anti-nausea medication. It usually starts working within 15-60 minutes and can last for 4-6 hours. It may increase the effects of other medicines that cause drowsiness, so patients should be carefully monitored after receiving general anesthesia. Hydroxyzine can also interfere with the heart's electrical activity, which can lead to serious heart problems, so it should be used cautiously in those with an increased risk of such problems.
How Hydroxyzine Pamoate works in the bodyHydroxyzine is a medicine used to treat allergic reactions. It works by blocking the histamine H1 receptor, which is responsible for causing allergic symptoms like itching, sneezing, and watery eyes. Hydroxyzine also has sedative and anti-nausea effects, which are thought to come from blocking other receptors in the body.
