Effectiveness

How Lastacaft Affects Patients

After being applied to the eyes, alcaftadine ophthalmic solution, 0.25%, reaches its highest level in the blood (60 pg/mL) in 15 minutes. The level of alcaftadine in the blood drops below 10 pg/mL after 3 hours. Its active carboxylic acid metabolite has a peak level in the blood of 3 ng/mL after 1 hour and drops below 100 pg/mL after 12 hours.

How Lastacaft works in the body

Alcaftadine works by blocking the effects of histamine, which is a chemical released by certain cells in the body. It also stops white blood cells from moving to the area and stops them from becoming activated.

Lastacaft for Allergic Conjunctivitis

My wife and I both used this medication for our allergies, but we both had burning eyes and swollen, red, irritated eyes the next day. We were very uncomfortable and stopped using it after one day.

Lastacaft for Allergic Conjunctivitis

It's important to remember that every person reacts differently to medication. The doctor is essentially conducting an experiment whenever they prescribe a new drug, and even they can't predict how someone will react. I hope for the best but understand that not everyone will have the same experience with this treatment.

Lastacaft for Allergic Conjunctivitis

The drops are good, but I think Allergan is ripping people off with the price. The container is tiny and only holds a few drops, yet they charge an absurd amount of money for it. It's outrageous.

Lastacaft for Allergic Conjunctivitis

Though it did work well to clear my infection, I lost a concerning amount of eyelashes after just three uses. Will not be using this product again.

Lastacaft for Allergic Conjunctivitis

It's quite expensive, and insurance only covered a fraction of the cost. I find it outrageous that they charge so much for such a small amount.

Lastacaft for Allergic Conjunctivitis

I used this for about two weeks before I started having problems with my eyes. They turned red and swollen, to the point where I thought I might have an infection. However, after reading some other reviews, it seems like this drug may have been the cause of my issues.

Lastacaft for Allergic Conjunctivitis

After using this drug for a while, it started to make my eye problem worse. I stopped using it for a couple months and saw gradual improvement, but when I recently tried again, I had an intense reaction where my eyes burned and became red and swollen. It's clearly not the right medication for me.

Lastacaft for Allergic Conjunctivitis

The first two weeks were great while using the sample, but ever since I purchased the prescription, it seems that my eyes have been burning, feeling dry and irritated, and are red more than usual. I had to stop the eye drops and am hopeful the symptoms resolve.

I had the worst allergic reaction of my life to this drug. I was itchy and red all over for a month, and then my throat started swelling and I couldn't breathe. My eyes were also incredibly swollen and itchy.
