The Generic name of this drug

Treatment Summary

Miconazole is a type of antifungal drug used to treat yeast infections. This medication works by inhibiting the production of a certain enzyme in fungus, which helps to stop the growth and spread of the infection. It can be used to treat both oral and vaginal yeast infections, and is available in the form of creams, tablets, gels, and suppositories. Miconazole was approved by the FDA in 1974 and is available both by prescription and over-the-counter. It is considered to be generally safe and has a low risk of resistance due to long-term use.

Effectiveness

How Monistat 1 Combination Pack Affects Patients

Miconazole is an antifungal medication that interferes with the growth of fungi. It is usually applied to the skin and does not get absorbed into the body much. Common side effects are allergies and anaphylaxis. If using miconazole intravaginally, it is recommended not to use contraceptives or tampons at the same time, as they can cause the medication to be less effective.

How Monistat 1 Combination Pack works in the body

Miconazole is an antifungal medication used to treat infections caused by a fungus called _Candida_. It works in three ways. First, it interferes with the production of a part of the fungus' cell membrane, making it leaky and unable to function properly. Second, it leads to increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which have a variety of effects that lead to cell death. Third, it increases levels of farnesol, which prevents the fungus from forming biofilms which are harder to treat. In addition, farnesol also stops the fungus from using certain proteins that help it

Monistat 1 Combination Pack for Yeast Infection of Vagina and Vulva

The medicine didn't quite work for me as intended. I woke up in the middle of the night in more pain than when I started. However, smoking ???? did help to alleviate the pain temporarily.

The burning sensation lasted more than 30 minutes, which was really unpleasant. I think it might have been caused by me scratching/rubbing/patting the area, which made things worse.

I took Monistat 1 day and it was honestly the worst experience of my life. I felt like there was a literal fire in my vagina. It woke me up from sleep and I could still feel the sensation hours later. This product needs to be removed from the market immediately.

2-HOBA for Salt Sensitivity of Blood Pressure

18+
All Sexes
Nashville, TN

Hypertension is the leading cause of preventable deaths globally, driven by complications such as myocardial infarction, stroke, heart failure, and kidney disease. Recent updates in hypertension classification by the American Heart Association (AHA) place nearly half of the U.S. population in the hypertensive category. Excess dietary salt is a major risk factor for hypertension, with 50% of hypertensive individuals exhibiting salt-sensitivity of blood pressure (SSBP). SSBP is an independent predictor of cardiovascular events and death. While kidney mechanisms in salt-sensing have been extensively studied, emerging evidence suggests that immune cells can also sense sodium (Na+). This trial hypothesizes that myeloid cell-derived isolevuglandins (IsoLGs) drive endothelial dysfunction, perpetuating the salt-sensitive phenotype. Preliminary data indicate that targeting IsoLGs with the IsoLG scavenger 2-hydroxybenzylamine (2-HOBA) may interrupt this immune-vascular axis, reducing salt sensitivity and associated cardiovascular risks. This phase 2 clinical trial aims to investigate the role of 2-HOBA in modulating immune cell function within blood vessels in hypertensive patients. The study will explore the impact of immunity on salt sensitivity and assess 2-HOBA's potential to reduce endothelial dysfunction, improve immune cell activation, and alleviate SSBP.

Disulfiram for Rheumatoid Arthritis

18 - 75
All Sexes
Oklahoma City, OK

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by persistent joint inflammation and systemic immune activation. Obesity is common among individuals with RA and is associated with increased disease activity, reduced treatment response, and worse functional outcomes. Inflammation in adipose tissue, driven in part by activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and downstream gasdermin D (GSDMD)-mediated pathways, may contribute to systemic inflammation and RA disease severity. Disulfiram (DSF), an FDA-approved medication for alcohol use disorder, has recently been identified as an inhibitor of GSDMD-mediated inflammatory signaling and pyroptosis. Preclinical studies suggest that DSF reduces inflammasome activation, inflammatory cytokine release, and metabolic dysfunction. This study is a 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot trial designed to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of DSF in overweight and obese adults with active RA despite stable disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) therapy. Participants will be randomized to receive either DSF (250 mg daily) or placebo. The primary objective is to assess safety and tolerability. Secondary and exploratory objectives include evaluating the effects of DSF on systemic inflammation, RA disease activity, metabolic parameters, and adipose tissue inflammasome activation. Findings from this study will inform the feasibility and design of larger clinical trials targeting GSDMD-mediated inflammation in RA.

Soothing Beta Cream for Diaper Rash

18+

The goal of this clinical trial is to determine whether adding a β-glucan moisturizing cream to routine skin care can enhance skin healing, accelerate visible recovery, reduce discomfort, and improve both patient and clinician experiences. The study will also learn about the safety and tolerability of the β-glucan cream when used along with standard skin care. The main questions it aims to answer are: Are there visible changes in the severity of IAD when β-glucan cream is added to standard care, and if so, to what extent does it reduce severity compared with standard care alone? Does the β-glucan cream help IAD heal faster? Does the cream reduce symptoms such as pain, itching, tingling, or burning? What medical problems or side effects, if any, do participants experience while using the β-glucan cream? Researchers will compare standard care plus β-glucan cream to standard care alone to see if the β-glucan cream provides additional benefit for treating IAD. Participants will: Receive either β-glucan cream plus standard care or standard care alone Have the study cream applied once daily for up to 2 weeks Have their skin checked weekly by the study team using a standardized assessment tool Answer questions about symptoms such as pain, itching, tingling, and burning Allow photographs of the affected skin area to be taken for secure clinical review Be monitored for any side effects or skin reactions during the study

Acetazolamide for Altitude Sickness

18 - 65
All Sexes
Riverside, CA

High altitude travel can lead to inflammation in the body and activation of innate immune cells. The investigators' prior research demonstrates that 1 to 3 days at 3800 m elevation leads to increased expression of genes in blood cells that code for proteins that signal cell damage (damage associated molecular patterns (DAMPs)), cell receptors involved in innate immune responses, as well as increases in monocyte and neutrophil cells which promote inflammation. This study will investigate the potential mechanisms underlying these effects using the drug Acetazolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor which is known to reduce symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness.

Corticosteroids for Heart Failure

18 - 80
All Sexes
Boston, MA

This pilot study investigates whether giving a short course of intravenous corticosteroids (methylprednisolone) alongside standard medical care can help patients recovering from heart failure-related cardiogenic shock. Heart failure-related cardiogenic shock happens when chronic heart dysfunction causes poor blood circulation and congestion throughout the body. Often, this condition triggers severe inflammation, making it harder for the heart and other organs to recover, even when temporary mechanical heart pumps are used to support blood flow. The study aims to see if reducing this inflammation with corticosteroids is safe and can help patients get better faster. Researchers will enroll 30 adult patients hospitalized with early-stage (SCAI Stage B or C) cardiogenic shock related to heart failure. To participate, patients must also show high levels of inflammation in their blood, specifically a high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) level of 20 mg/L or higher Participants will be randomly assigned by chance to one of two groups. One group will receive the standard of care alone. The other group will receive the standard of care plus a 7-day course of intravenous methylprednisolone. The main goal of the study is to measure the change in inflammation levels (hsCRP) over 7 days. Researchers will also monitor how well the patients' organs recover, track their need for blood pressure medications or mechanical heart pumps, and monitor for any side effects to ensure the treatment is safe

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Cardiovascular Fitness

30 - 60
All Sexes
Austin, TX

The purpose of this study is to determine whether hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at 1.75 atmospheres of pressure (ATA) improves cardiovascular fitness (VO₂ max) and reduces inflammation in healthy adults. HBOT involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber and is considered investigational for this use. Recent research has shown that different HBOT pressures can have different effects on inflammation. Specifically, some inflammatory cytokines (measurable markers of inflammation in the body) appear to decrease at low pressures like 1.3 ATA, while a different set of cytokines responds better at higher pressures, such as 2.0 ATA. Cytokines are small proteins that play a crucial role in cell signaling, particularly within the immune system. They help regulate inflammation, infection response, and overall immune function. While some cytokines promote inflammation to fight off threats, others help reduce inflammation when it's no longer needed. An imbalance in cytokines - especially excessive inflammatory cytokines - can contribute to chronic inflammation, cardiovascular disease, and other health issues. In this study, we are testing an intermediate pressure - 1.75 ATA - to see if we can target both sets of cytokines at once. If successful, this approach could offer broader anti-inflammatory benefits. We are also interested in how this intermediate pressure may improve VO₂ max, a key indicator of cardiovascular fitness. Since VO₂ max is strongly linked to heart health and overall longevity, finding a safe and effective way to improve it has meaningful implications not just for athletes, but for anyone looking to enhance their fitness and well-being.

Mediterranean Diet for Toddler Health

24 - 36
All Sexes
Fredericton, Canada

Toddlerhood (ages 2-3) is a critical window when the gut microbiome is still developing and eating habits are being established. Yet, many Canadian toddlers eat diets high in sugar and salt, which may affect long-term health. This study will test whether a MED diet can improve dietary inflammation, gut health, and body composition in toddlers and whether a tailored nutrition education program for parents can help families maintain healthy eating patterns. In this study, toddlers will be randomly assigned to a 3-week MED diet or their usual diet. Families in the MED diet group will receive free meal boxes for the 3 weeks, plus guidance from a nutrition researcher through a structured education program. The standard diet group will continue their regular diet with general nutrition advice. Researchers will collect dietary information, body composition assessments, and stool samples to measure gut microbiome composition and metabolites. This first study of a controlled diet intervention in toddlers, combining behavioral support, high-quality food provision, and advanced gut microbiome analysis, will help understand how early diet shapes lifelong eating habits and health, guiding public health strategies and precision nutrition approaches to prevent chronic disease from early life.
