How Lipofen Affects Patients
Fenofibrate is a type of drug used to help control cholesterol levels and treat certain types of fatty acid problems. It is taken once a day, and its effects last for 19-27 hours. The recommended dose is 50-150mg per day, so it is safe to take in different doses. Taking fenofibrate can cause muscle problems, including rhabdomyolysis, myopathy, and cholelithiasis, so patients should be made aware of the risks.
How Lipofen works in the body
Fenofibrate helps to break down fatty molecules in the body. It does this by activating a special protein called PPARα. This protein signals the body to produce substances that help break down fat. In rare cases, this increased activity can put too much stress on the liver, leading to cirrhosis or chronic hepatitis.
When to interrupt dosage
The advised dosage of Lipofen is contingent upon the diagnosed condition, including extreme Fredrickson Type V Hypertriglyceridemia, Dyslipidemias and Hypertriglyceridemia. The degree of dosage is influenced by the technique of delivery (e.g. Oral or Tablet, film coated) as detailed in the table beneath.

Lipofen Toxicity & Overdose Risk
The lowest toxic dose of fenofibrate in rats is over 2g/kg and in mice is 1600mg/kg. If a patient has recently overdosed, they should be monitored closely and treated with vomiting or stomach pumping. Because fenofibrate binds to proteins in the bloodstream, dialysis is not expected to be effective in removing the drug.

What are the side effects of atorvastatin?
"The following are some tips for what to do when you are feeling sick: Stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food. If you have a headache, make sure you rest and drink plenty of fluids. If you have a nosebleed, try to tilt your head forward slightly and breathe through your mouth. If you have a sore throat, try gargling with salt water. If you have cold-like symptoms, such as a runny nose, blocked nose or sneezing, try to stay warm and dry. If you are constipated or farting (flatulence), try to eat more fibre-rich foods. If you have diarrhoea, make sure you drink plenty of fluids to replace what is lost."

What is lipofen used for?
"Fenofibrate is used to help lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. It works by increasing the natural substance (enzyme) that breaks down fats in the blood."
