Effectiveness

How Irbesartan Affects PatientsIrbesartan is a medication used to help lower blood pressure and treat kidney damage from diabetes. It is generally taken once a day and has been found to be safe at low doses (150mg daily) and even more effective at higher doses (900mg/day).
How Irbesartan works in the bodyIrbesartan blocks the hormone angiotensin II from attaching to the AT1 receptor in certain tissues. This prevents the hormone from causing your blood vessels to narrow and your body from releasing aldosterone, which would raise your blood pressure. By blocking the hormone, Irbesartan helps to lower your blood pressure.

This treatment quickly and effectively lowered my blood pressure. However, I have been experiencing severe burning sensations in my arms and chest, as well as weird feelings all over my body. I'm meeting with a specialist to see if maybe I can go off the medication entirely.
