Animal studies have shown that subcutaneous fluticasone propionate may cause birth defects, but there are no reports of adverse effects with oral administration during pregnancy. Breastfeeding mothers may experience growth suppression, changes in natural cortisol levels, or other side effects. Children who use fluticasone ointment may have suppressed adrenal glands. 7/26/2017 My grandson started using Flovent 44mcg in August without much success. Doctor upped the doseage to 110mcg at the end of Oct. Now, a month later, my grandson is a different child. His asthma is under control, but his behavior is terrible. He is super hyper, has trouble sleeping, screams, cries, talks back, in addition to throwing & hitting. I've reduced him to 1 puff a day until I can get in touch with his doctor.

12/6/2012 Flovent unfortunately did not work for me the way I had hoped. Not only that, but it also caused a number of terrible side effects like uncontrollable coughing, rapid heartbeat, and wheezing. It was so bad that I could barely speak and ended up with really painful leg cramps. Thankfully, I was able to stop taking this medication after just a couple of doses.

He also started having unsafe thoughts. We tried it for a second winter at the urging of our doctor, but it was a terrible mistake. We had to put our son on Prozac as a result.

11/28/2012 I developed atrial fibrillation after using Flovent HFA and ipratropium for a year, as prescribed by my pulmonologist. I found that many other people have had similar experiences with these medications causing irregular heartbeat, hyperactivity, and insomnia. After discontinuing use of the medication, my A-Fib went away.
