It is also important to note that while erythromycin may be used to treat some Haemophilus influenzae, it may be combined with other medications to be effective. Taking erythromycin can also lead to pseudomembranous colitis, which can range from mild to severe, as well as liver issues
How Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate works in the bodyErythromycin is an antibiotic that stops bacteria from reproducing. It does this by binding to the ribosomal proteins that form the building blocks of protein synthesis. This prevents bacteria from making the proteins they need to replicate, leading to bacterial death or an inability to reproduce. Erythromycin has a strong affinity for bacterial ribosomes, making it a broad-spectrum antibiotic.
