Effectiveness

How Betoptic Affects PatientsBetaxolol is a drug that blocks certain receptors in the heart, which reduces the heart rate and blood pressure. It is used to treat high blood pressure, heart arrhythmias, coronary heart disease, glaucoma, and to prevent non-fatal cardiac events in patients with heart failure. Betaxolol also stops the release of a hormone made by the kidneys that causes blood vessels to constrict. It is a type of fat-soluble drug and does not stimulate the heart or stabilize cell membranes.
How Betoptic works in the bodyBetaxolol works by blocking the effects of certain hormones that speed up your heart rate and widen your blood vessels. This helps to lower your heart rate, blood pressure, and may cause a drop in blood pressure when you stand up. It can also block hormones in your bronchial muscles, which can lead to narrowing of the airways.
