What is Ultram

TramadolThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryTramadol is a medication used to treat moderate to severe pain. It works differently than other opioid pain medications because it affects two types of neurotransmitters, serotonin and norepinephrine. This dual-action makes tramadol more effective at reducing pain from a variety of sources such as neuropathic pain, post-operative pain, lower back pain, labor pain, and cancer-related pain. It can also help with anxiety, depression, and shivering. Tramadol does carry a risk of side effects, including tolerance, dependence, abuse, and overdose. It can also cause seizures and serotonin syndrome if taken with

Effectiveness

How Ultram Affects PatientsTramadol is a pain reliever that works by binding to opioid receptors in the central nervous system. It can help reduce pain and fever, but can also lead to dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, constipation, sweating, and itching. It does not cause histamine release like morphine, has no effect on heart rate or left-ventricular function, and can cause respiratory depression and suppress coughing. Seizures have been reported with tramadol, especially when taken in high doses. It also carries a risk of serotonin syndrome when taken with other drugs that affect serotonin levels. Gastrointestinal effects of taking
How Ultram works in the bodyTramadol is a medicine that works on the brain to control pain. It has a weak connection to opioid receptors, and it also helps to increase the amount of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. It is made up of two parts that work together to provide pain relief. One part binds to opioid receptors, while the other part helps keep serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. Tramadol also affects a number of other pain modulators, including alpha2-adrenoreceptors, neurokinin 1 receptors, voltage-gated sodium channels, transient receptor potential cation channels, muscar

Ultram for Joint Damage causing Pain and Loss of Function
I have a lot of nerve pain and arthritis throughout my body. I've tried other treatments like injections and medication, but nothing works as well as tramadol. It's been a lifesaver for me since 2018.

Ultram for Chronic Pain
I've been struggling with chronic back pain and sciatica for over two decades now. Previous treatments like Vicodin just left me feeling drowsy and unproductive at work. Tramadol really helps take the edge off so that I can still function normally despite the pain.

Ultram for Joint Damage causing Pain and Loss of Function
Tramadol has been a game changer for me in terms of managing my arthritis pain. It's made the pain much more bearable and I've been on it for six months without any decrease in efficacy, which is great. The downside is that it can cause itching and constipation, which can be bothersome, especially since I have psoriasis as well.

Ultram for Chronic Pain
I've been dealing with chronic low back pain, as well as severe sciatica off-and-on for over two decades now. Vicodin helped a little bit at first, but the dosage kept having to be increased until it became impractical and I was missing work left and right. Tramadol has been much more effective in managing my pain so that I can still lead a relatively normal life.

Ultram for Pain
I've only been taking this medicine for an hour and a half, but it's already made a big difference in my lower back pain. I can move around much better now, even though the pain is still there. I'm going to stick to taking it once a day instead of three times, because I don't want to risk any side effects.

Ultram for Chronic Pain
I'm in my early 50s and generally in good shape, though my lower back is giving me a lot of trouble lately. The pain was really bad, but after taking a 50mg tramadol, it decreased to a 3 within 45 minutes. There are some side effects (like feeling giddy) but they're not too bad. And interestingly, this medication also seems to have the side effect of increasing sexual desire!

Ultram for Pain
I have arthritis and pain in most of my joints. I've had to do a partial knee replacement, as well as carpal tunnel surgery in both wrists. Pain medication doesn't completely take away the pain, but it does make it more bearable. I've been taking this for almost 15 years now, and while I do have some trouble with it (sweating due to living in Florida and the high humidity), overall it's been working well for me.

Patient Q&A Section about ultram

What is the medicine Ultram used for?

"This medication is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain using Tramadol, an opioid analgesic. The drug works by changing how pain is felt and responded to in the brain." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Unverified Answer

Why is Ultram an opioid?

"The medication ULTRAM contains the active ingredient tramadol, which is a type of drug that activates certain opioid receptors in the brain while also inhibiting the re-uptake of serotonin and norepinephrine. While the exact way that this drug works is not fully understood, it is believed that the pain-relieving effects of tramadol are due to both the activation of the µ-opioid receptors and the weak inhibition of serotonin and norepinephrine." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Unverified Answer

Which is stronger oxycodone or Ultram?

"Tramadol may be less likely to cause addiction and dependence than oxycodone, but it is not as effective at relieving pain. Tramadol can cause mood-boosting properties and respiratory depression, but it also carries the risk of seizure." - Anonymous Online Contributor

Unverified Answer

Is Ultram a strong medication?

"Tramadol (Ultram) is a potent painkiller that is used to relieve moderate to severe pain. It is typically used when non-opioid painkillers are no longer effective at controlling the pain." - Anonymous Online Contributor
