Effectiveness

How Tuzistra Xr Affects PatientsAllergic reactions happen when a substance (allergen) interacts with the antibodies on mast cells and basophils. This triggers a series of events that cause the mast cells and basophils to release histamine and other chemicals. Histamine affects the body by causing itching, flushing, headache, and other symptoms. Chlorpheniramine is a medicine that works by blocking histamine receptors, which helps to relieve sneezing, itchy eyes, and a runny nose caused by allergies.
How Tuzistra Xr works in the bodyChlorpheniramine works by blocking your body's histamine receptors. Histamine is a compound that causes reactions in the body, and chlorpheniramine stops it from having any effect, providing temporary relief from the symptoms it causes.

Tuzistra Xr for Cough
Don't bother with this Tuzistra XR suspension; it's just sugar water. I paid $116 for it and got zero relief from my bronchitis cough. Stick with Promethazine instead.

Tuzistra Xr for Stuffy Nose
This medication is way too expensive and not covered by my insurance. Unfortunately, I had to stop taking it after just one and a half days because it made me feel nauseous. The over the counter medication recommended by the pharmacist was much cheaper and worked just as well.
