What is Tetracycline Hydrochloride

TetracyclineThe Generic name of this drug
Treatment SummaryTetracycline is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It works by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria, blocking incoming amino acid molecules and preventing bacteria from growing. It also affects the bacteria’s cytoplasmic membrane, causing certain parts of the bacteria to leak out.

Effectiveness

How Tetracycline Hydrochloride Affects PatientsTetracycline is a short-term antibiotic that stops bacteria from multiplying. It does this by attaching to the parts of the bacteria's cells that make proteins, which prevents the bacteria from creating more cells. It can also puncture the outer wall of the bacterial cell and cause the contents inside to leak out, stopping the bacteria from functioning properly.
How Tetracycline Hydrochloride works in the bodyTetracycline works by entering bacteria through small openings in the membrane, and then attaching to their ribosomes. This blocks the ribosomes from making proteins, which stops the bacteria from reproducing.

When to interrupt dosage

The proposed dose of Tetracycline Hydrochloride is contingent upon the recognized condition, such as Bartonellosis, Skin Infections caused by Staphylococcus Aureus and Clostridium difficile Infection (CDI). The amount of dosage depends on the technique of delivery, as detailed in the table below.
