Effectiveness

How Rescriptor Affects PatientsDelavirdine is a medication used to treat HIV-1. It works by blocking the enzyme (reverse transcriptase) that helps HIV-1 to spread in the body. Delavirdine does not affect other enzymes or proteins, such as those found in HIV-2, human DNA polymerases, or eukaryotic DNA polymerases.
How Rescriptor works in the bodyDelavirdine prevents the virus from reproducing by blocking the enzyme responsible for copying its genetic material. It does this by attaching to the enzyme and preventing it from doing its job.
