How Norgesic Affects Patients

Acetylsalicylic acid works by blocking certain enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) that produce prostaglandins, which are substances that cause pain and fever. This drug also helps prevent blood clots by blocking thromboxane A2, a substance that helps platelets stick together and form clots. Lastly, research suggests that taking this drug long-term may prevent some types of cancer, such as stomach, colorectal, pancreatic, and liver cancer. More research is needed to confirm this.

How Norgesic works in the body

Acetylsalicylic acid, or aspirin, works to stop pain-causing prostaglandins from forming. It binds to a protein in the body called cyclooxygenase-1, which helps make prostaglandins. This binding is irreversible, which means it keeps the protein from producing prostaglandins for about 7-10 days. Aspirin also prevents platelet aggregation, which is when blood cells stick together and form clots. This can lead to dangerous conditions like stroke and pulmonary embolism. Aspirin binds better to cyclooxygenase-1 than cyclooxygenase

Norgesic Toxicity & Overdose Risk

Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) is dangerous in large doses and can cause severe side effects. In humans, cats, and dogs, the lethal dose has been reported to be over 1.0 g/kg. Symptoms of overdose include irritation of the stomach, liver, kidney, and lungs; bleeding; nervous system problems; and shock. In rare cases, ASA toxicity can also cause death. It should be avoided during pregnancy, especially during the first and second trimester, unless absolutely necessary. If taken during pregnancy, the dose should be kept to the lowest possible and taken for the shortest duration possible.

Norgesic for Muscle Spasm

I have a slipped disc at L4-5, and when I went off of Norgesic for just two weeks, the electrical impulses all over my body increased significantly. Once I started taking it again (2 tablets, 3 times per day), almost all of the electrical impulses stopped. I'm going to experiment next week by going without Norgesic for three days, but so far this medication has been extremely effective for me.

I haven't experienced any side effects from this drug. It's been really helpful for me in getting a good night's sleep when I need it. I've used it on and off for about five years now, mostly for sleeping but also occasionally for muscle pain relief.

I would recommend only taking half the recommended dosage. I took three tablets in less than 24 hours and experienced high palpitations and my heart rate went up to 170. This made me feel very scared. If you experience similar effects, please discontinue use of this medication.

BI 3000202 for Lupus

This study is open to adults with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called BI 3000202 helps people with SLE. The study tests different doses of BI 3000202 and aims to find the best dose for people with this condition. Participants are put into 5 groups randomly, which means by chance. 4 groups get different doses of BI 3000202, and 1 group gets a placebo. Placebo tablets look like BI 3000202 tablets but do not contain any medicine. Participants take the tablets for 1 year. All participants also continue their regular treatment for SLE. Participants are in the study for a bit longer than 1 year. During this time, they visit the study site regularly. Doctors check the participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects. They also compare the results between the groups to see if the treatment works.

Sleep and Dreaming Practices for Anxiety

People spend approximately one-third of their lives asleep, yet sleep is often underused as an opportunity to support psychological well-being. Contemplative traditions, including Tibetan Dream Yoga, have developed practices that use waking imagination and lucid dreaming to explore perception, awareness, and habitual patterns of thinking. Recent advances in sleep monitoring, dream communication, and lucid dream induction now make it possible to study these practices using scientific methods. This study is a randomized controlled trial designed to examine the feasibility and effects of a Dream-Yoga-inspired intervention compared with an active control condition. The intervention combines waking and dreaming practices that are adapted for individuals without prior experience and delivered using virtual reality-based training and home sleep technology. The program is designed to be scalable and culturally neutral, without requiring prior knowledge of contemplative or religious traditions. The primary goals of the study are to characterize sleep and waking neurophysiology associated with Dream-Yoga-inspired practices and to evaluate whether participation is associated with changes in sleep-related brain activity and cognitive processes. Outcomes include measures of lucid dreaming, sleep physiology, and waking cognitive and perceptual processes. Anxiety will be assessed as an exploratory outcome to examine whether participation may be associated with changes in emotional experience. This study is not designed to provide treatment for anxiety or other clinical conditions. Results from this study will help inform the development of scalable sleep-based mental training approaches and guide future research on the use of dreaming and sleep practices to support psychological health and well-being

Middle Meningeal Artery Stimulation for Migraine

This study is testing a new way to help with migraine headaches. Researchers want to see if it's safe and doable to stimulate a blood vessel in the head (called the middle meningeal artery) with microcatheters and microwires. This has never been done before for migraines and is an investigational treatment that is not part of standard migraine treatment. This stimulation would happen just before giving the standard lidocaine treatment, which is already routinely used for migraines. The goal is to see whether this new step could help improve headache outcomes. Two FDA-cleared medical devices will be used, the Cadwell Cascade 32 PRO and the Cadwell Guardian IONM System, to perform the stimulation and monitoring. In this study, the Cascade 32 PRO will be used in a way that is not part of its usual approved purpose (this is called "off-label" use) to gently deliver electrical pulses through a microcatheter. The Cadwell Guardian IONM System will be used in its normal, FDAapproved way for continuous monitoring during stimulation.

Audio-Based Therapy for Anxiety in Psoriasis

Anxiety in psoriasis is associated with impaired quality of life, and the prevalence of anxiety symptoms in psoriatic populations is approximately 34% and anxiety disorders up to 16%. Many experts recommend routine screening, referral, and interventions for anxiety in psoriasis; however, many barriers inhibit access to mental health resources and proper management. To our knowledge, there is a lack of easily accessible interventions that manage anxiety. Audio-based therapy offers convenient and effective interventions that show reduced anxiety in published, randomized studies and is a promising management for psoriasis patients. This study will evaluate the effects of audio therapy in patients with psoriasis and measure changes in overall symptoms.

Nitrous Oxide for Pain During Bladder Botox Injections

The goal of this clinical trial is to assess if a mix of nitrous oxide and oxygen can improve pain control during bladder Botox injections. The primary question it aims to answer is: Does using nitrous oxide lower the overall level of pain during the procedure? Researchers will compare a 50:50 nitrous oxide/oxygen mixture (administered with the Pro-Nox system) plus standard care (with lidocaine in the bladder) to sham mask plus standard care to see if nitrous oxide works better for lowering pain. Participants will: * Receive their bladder Botox injection in the office setting * Either use nitrous oxide/oxygen plus standard care during the procedure, or sham mask plus standard care * Answer brief questions about pain, anxiety, satisfaction, and willingness to repeat the procedure

The goal of this study is to learn whether combining healthy food access with personalized tools can help families improve heart health and make lasting lifestyle changes. The main questions the study aims to answer are: * Do the new tools (PRO-CVH and Triple-C) help families improve their heart health? * Which combination of tools and supports works best for families with limited access to healthy food? * Is this type of program easy to carry out and acceptable to families and healthcare teams? Families in the study will include one parent with a BMI greater than 30 who has Medicaid insurance and their child aged 6 to 11 years. Depending on which group they are assigned to, families may: * Receive food and nutrition education via handouts and/or online curriculum * Have access to an online health assessment tool than can help you understand your/your child's risk factors for heart disease * Work with a personalized health coach who can help you set goals for healthier living online/virtually. * Receive medically tailored groceries and cooking classes. Researchers will follow participants for several months to see how their heart health changes and which parts of the program work best together. The information from this study will help design a larger clinical trial to test a practical, cost-effective program that can help families build healthier habits and reduce their risk of heart disease.

Behavioral Nudge Texts for Flu Vaccination

Influenza infection leads to significant morbidity and mortality each year. Influenza vaccines can reduce the risk of flu and the severity of flu illness, In addition, flu vaccinations can reduce flu complications such as pneumonia or worsening of chronic heart or lung disease. Each year, Kaiser Permanente of Colorado offers influenza vaccines to patients at no cost either at primary care clinic appointments or flu walk-in clinics in the fall prior to the upcoming flu season. In addition, as part of clinic appointment reminder text messages, there is a message to get the flu vaccine for patients who have not received the vaccine prior to the clinic visit. Building on these flu reminder text messages for patients who have not received a flu vaccine, this study will test different behavioral nudge text messages to improve influenza vaccination rates.
