How Nasonex Affects PatientsMometasone is a type of corticosteroid that is more powerful than other corticosteroids and is filtered more easily across cell membranes. This helps activate pathways in the body that reduce inflammation.
How Nasonex works in the bodyMometasone is used to treat asthma by preventing cells such as mast cells, eosinophils, basophils, and lymphocytes from releasing chemicals that cause inflammation. It does this by binding to special receptors that are found in the cell's cytosol. When mometasone binds to the receptor, it causes the receptor to change shape and move to the nucleus of the cell. The receptor then binds to a special DNA sequence which boosts the production of anti-inflammatory molecules and stops the production of molecules that cause inflammation. Mometasone also works by blocking certain proteins that drive inflammation.

The appropriate amount of Nasonex is contingent upon the specified condition, such as Dermatitis, Eczematous induced by superficial Fungal skin infection, Psoriasis and Skin Diseases, Eczematous. 3/22/2015 This medication was an absolute lifesaver. I had sinusitis, chronic infections, and general trouble breathing through my nose before using Nasonex, but this drug really gave me back my life. However, it is criminal how expensive this medication is in the United States.

5/20/2018 While it did help with my constant hayfever problem, unfortunately I appear to have most of the unwanted side affects too - total loss of smell and taste, headaches, red eyes, dry mouth/throat, upset tummy, diahrrea, dreadful joint swelling and pain and other symptoms I'm not sure are related to Nasonex or coincidental. Either way, I would much rather a sneezy runny nose 24/7 than these side effects! My life is hell because of this stuff.

6/13/2022 Though this medicine did help me clear my sinuses, the side effects were really harsh. I felt anxious, had headaches and nausea, and constantly felt like my muscles ached. So unfortunately, I had to stop taking it.

5/18/2015 I stopped using this after four days because I woke up on the fifth day with complete blurred vision. I couldn't read any street signs, even though I have perfect vision. This was scary, and I will never use this again.

3/17/2018 After just three months of using this medication to treat an infected sinus, I started noticing some serious side effects. These included sores in my nose, excessive thirst and fatigue, dry mouth, and a constant sinus headache. All of these problems were caused by the medication, and things only got worse instead of better.

5/13/2022 Do not use this spray! It made me feel incredibly ill, with muscle pains, headaches, and worse congestion. I was also constantly depressed and crying. This product is absolutely horrible and should be taken off the market.
