Isotretinoin

The Generic name of this drug

Treatment Summary

Isotretinoin is a type of vitamin A used to treat severe acne that doesn't respond to other treatments. It was previously sold under the brand name Accutane, but is no longer available. Isotretinoin can cause serious side effects during pregnancy, so it is only available through a special program called iPLEDGE in the United States. The first isotretinoin product was approved by the FDA in 1982.

How Myorisan Affects Patients

We don't know much about how isotretinoin works in the body.

How Myorisan works in the body

Isotretinoin works to clear up acne by blocking pores and killing bacteria in the skin. It does this by reducing sebum production, which helps prevent clogged pores, as well as by killing sebocytes and reducing hyperkeratinization. It also makes the environment less hospitable for acne-causing bacteria and may boost your immune response to fight inflammation. There is some evidence that isotretinoin may interact with a protein called FoxO1, which could explain some of its effects.

When to interrupt dosage

The dose of Myorisan is contingent upon the specified condition, including Acne conglobata, Acne Vulgaris and Pregnancy. The amount of dosage adjusts as per the technique of delivery (e.g. Capsule - Oral or Capsule) mentioned in the table beneath.

Myorisan Toxicity & Overdose Risk

Overdosing on Isotretinoin may lead to symptoms such as vomiting, facial flushing, changes in the lips/mouth, abdominal pain, headache, dizziness, and lack of coordination. Children are particularly sensitive to this drug, with the lowest toxic dose for them being 30mg/kg. Animal studies have found that Isotretinoin can cause tumors in the adrenal glands and testicular atrophy in dogs at doses above the recommended clinical dose. Isotretinoin has been linked to major birth defects, spontaneous abortions, and premature births. There is no evidence that it is expressed in breast milk, but

Myorisan for Severe Difficult to Treat Nodular Acne

I was prescribed 80mg a day and this worked well for me. The only side effect I experienced was some soreness in my upper back.

Myorisan for Severe Difficult to Treat Nodular Acne

I've been using this medication for three months now. My dermatologist said that my skin would get worse before it got better, but nothing too severe has happened. However, my lips are extremely dry and the sides are cracked. Different parts of my skin will dry out as well. Coconut oil seems to be the best/longest lasting way to keep my skin moisturized; I tried vanicream

Myorisan for Severe Difficult to Treat Nodular Rosacea

I had some terrible side effects that were not adequately warned about. It says on the bottom of the Medication Guide that it "may effect bones, muscles and ligaments and cause pain." I wish I would have read that before taking this drug for three weeks, which has now left me with permanently weakened leg muscles. Do physical therapy every day just to stay out of a wheelchair.

Myorisan for Severe Difficult to Treat Nodular Acne

The medication is effective at controlling my acne. However, the box it comes in is terrible!! I have to use something sharp to open it up to get the next pill out every single day. It is very frustrating. Claravis usually works better for me, but it was on backorder so I had to switch to Myorisan temporarily.

Talimogene Laherparepvec + Nivolumab for Skin Cancer and Lymphoma

18+
All Sexes
Los Angeles, CA

This phase II trial studies how well talimogene laherparepvec and nivolumab work in treating patients with lymphomas that do not responded to treatment (refractory) or non-melanoma skin cancers that have spread to other places in the body (advanced) or do not responded to treatment. Biological therapies, such as talimogene laherparepvec, use substances made from living organisms that may stimulate or suppress the immune system in different ways and stop tumor cells from growing. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Giving talimogene laherparepvec and nivolumab may work better compared to usual treatments in treating patients with lymphomas or non-melanoma skin cancers.
