Effectiveness

How Morphine Sulfate Affects Patients

Morphine binds to opioid receptors in the body, blocking pain signals, and reducing pain felt. It generally takes 6-30 minutes for it to start working. Taking too much morphine can cause changes in how the brain works. In general, men need more morphine than women to feel the same effects. Morphine-6-glucuronide is also less effective than morphine, and is 22 times weaker at reducing pupil size.

How Morphine Sulfate works in the body

Morphine-6-glucuronide is responsible for most of the effects of morphine. Morphine acts on two types of opioid receptors, mu and kappa. It activates the reward pathway in the brain by targeting the delta receptor and stimulates the respiratory system and addiction disorder by targeting the mu receptor.

When to interrupt dosage

Morphine Sulfate for Chronic Pain with Narcotic Drug Tolerance

I switched from fentanyl patches to morphine ER, and was worried about my pain getting worse. However, my doctor gave me an equivalent dose, and it's working great! The only downside is that I have to take it on a schedule because as the first one wears off, I get pain and have to wait for the new pill to get relief.

Morphine Sulfate for Chronic Pain with Narcotic Drug Tolerance

I switched from fentanyl patches to morphine ER and, surprisingly, found that my pain was better managed. The only downside is having to take it on a schedule because as the 1st one wears off I get pain and have to wait for the new pill to get relief.

Morphine Sulfate for severe chronic pain requiring long-term opioid treatment

I've had chronic lower back pain for over two decades now, and this ER 15mg Morphine has really helped. It's much more consistent than hydrocodone, and doesn't have the same highs and lows. I definitely recommend it to others in my situation.

Morphine Sulfate for severe chronic pain requiring long-term opioid treatment

I've had chronic lower back pain for over two decades now. I've had five surgeries and been on various medications, but this ER 15mg Morphine is great. It's much more manageable than other drugs I've tried, with none of the downsides (like addiction potential).

Morphine Sulfate for Chronic Pain with Narcotic Drug Tolerance

I find that 100mg is a good amount to take in order to get through my work day without any major side effects. This medication doesn't cause bowel problems like some of the other stronger medications I've been on, which is a big plus.

Morphine Sulfate for Chronic Pain with Narcotic Drug Tolerance

I take one 100mg a day of this medication and it works just as well as some of the stronger medications I've been on, without the nasty side effects. This doesn't cause bowel problems like Opana and Fentanyl did, which is great. It's easy to take once a day and get through my work days.

Morphine Sulfate for Severe Pain

I'm always worried that the government will get involved and make it harder to obtain this medication. They think it's too easy to get on the streets, but what they don't realize is that making it more difficult for people who need it only creates a black market for those who can afford it.

Morphine Sulfate for Chronic Pain

This treatment has been really helpful for me in managing my pain. I have nerve damage and peripheral neuropathy, so finding something that is strong enough to take the edge off but not make me feel sick has been a challenge. Morphine seems to be just the right balance for me. I can function reasonably well as long as I stick to my schedule, and if I go over by a few hours I don't get too sick.

Morphine Sulfate for Severe Pain

I worry that the government will get involved in this and make it harder to obtain. They already made it difficult to get a prescription for hydrocodone, but now it's even easier to find on the street. This only makes life more difficult for those of us who need it for legitimate pain management.

In comparison to the smaller dark blue morphine pills, this treatment was not as effective at easing my pain. I had to go to a different pharmacy in another town because my doctor is located there.
