Effectiveness

How Morphine Sulfate Affects PatientsMorphine binds to opioid receptors in the body, blocking pain signals, and reducing pain felt. It generally takes 6-30 minutes for it to start working. Taking too much morphine can cause changes in how the brain works. In general, men need more morphine than women to feel the same effects. Morphine-6-glucuronide is also less effective than morphine, and is 22 times weaker at reducing pupil size.
How Morphine Sulfate works in the bodyMorphine-6-glucuronide is responsible for most of the effects of morphine. Morphine acts on two types of opioid receptors, mu and kappa. It activates the reward pathway in the brain by targeting the delta receptor and stimulates the respiratory system and addiction disorder by targeting the mu receptor.

Morphine Sulfate for Chronic Pain with Narcotic Drug Tolerance
I switched from fentanyl patches to morphine ER, and was worried about my pain getting worse. However, my doctor gave me an equivalent dose, and it's working great! The only downside is that I have to take it on a schedule because as the first one wears off, I get pain and have to wait for the new pill to get relief.

Morphine Sulfate for Severe Pain
I've had chronic pain for over 8 years and was lucky enough to have a Doctor give me morphine because all the additives, fillers in other drugs caused too many problems.
