How Lunelle Affects Patients
Estrogen works in the body by binding to two different types of receptors (Estrogen Receptor Alpha and Estrogen Receptor Beta) and a third type of receptor known as G Protein-coupled Estrogen Receptor. These receptors are located in different parts of the body, including the breasts, uterus, ovaries, skin, prostate, bone, fat, and brain. When estrogen binds to these receptors it can cause a range of effects.
How Lunelle works in the body
Estradiol works by entering cells, such as in female organs, breasts, the hypothalamus, and the pituitary. Once inside the cell, it binds to a receptor, which causes the cell to produce proteins that express the effects of estradiol. These proteins increase the production of proteins in the liver that bind hormones, as well as suppress a hormone that stimulates fertility. These changes reverse some of the symptoms of menopause and low estrogen levels.
