Effectiveness

How Loestrin Fe 1/20 Affects PatientsNorethisterone is a medication taken orally for contraception or to treat other hormone-related conditions. It is much stronger than the natural progesterone our bodies produce and works by altering the cervical and endometrial function, as well as blocking certain hormones released by the pituitary gland. Taking this medication may slightly increase the risk of developing breast cancer, so patients should be aware and practice regular self-exams.
How Loestrin Fe 1/20 works in the bodyNorethisterone works in a few different ways to prevent pregnancy. It thickens cervical mucus to stop sperm from entering the uterus. It also changes the endometrium, making it difficult for a fertilized egg to implant. Norethisterone also suppresses hormones that help with ovulation, so eggs cannot be released. For menopausal women, norethisterone is used to prevent endometrial cancer. It does this by blocking the growth of the endometrium. Norethisterone has low activity at other hormone receptors, like the androgen receptor and glucocorticoid receptor. This
