Effectiveness

How Diprolene Affects Patients

Corticosteroids bind to special receptors in the body that help reduce inflammation. They are often prescribed in doses higher than what the body would normally produce. Patients taking corticosteroids long-term should be aware of the risks of suppressed hormones and a weakened immune system, which can increase the risk of infection.

How Diprolene works in the body

Glucocorticoids like betamethasone work in two ways to reduce inflammation. The first is by blocking molecules responsible for inflammation and promoting molecules which reduce it. The second is by activating receptors on cells like T-cells, platelets, and monocytes which decrease inflammation quickly.

When to interrupt dosage

The suggested dosage of Diprolene is subject to the diagnosed affliction, like Ankylosing Spondylitis, Adrenal cortical hypofunctions and Post Surgical Ocular Inflammation. The amount of dosage is contingent upon the approach of delivery (e.g. Topical or Solution - Oral) mentioned in the table beneath.

Diprolene for Atopic Dermatitis

I was diagnosed with Seborrheic Dermititis and this product worked wonders for me. It took away the redness and scaly skin within a day or so. The only bad thing is that it was not a "cure"....

Diprolene for Atopic Dermatitis

I've been battling scabies for a while now, and I have to say that this treatment hasn't been working at all. I've used premathrin as prescribed by my doctor, but it just doesn't seem to be doing anything. I'm still really unhappy with the situation, but I'm hopeful that diprolene will finally help me get rid of this skin condition once and for all.

Patient Q&A Section about diprolene

These questions and answers are submitted by anonymous patients, and have not been verified by our internal team.

What is Diprolene used for?

"This medication is used to treat a variety of skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, allergies, and rash. Betamethasone is a strong corticosteroid that reduces the swelling, itching, and redness associated with these conditions."

Answered by AI

What are the side effects to Diprolene?

"If you use this medication, you may experience side effects such as burning, itching, irritation, redness, peeling, and dry skin. Your skin may also thin out or you may get stretch marks. In rare cases, you may get blisters."

Answered by AI

Is Diprolene a steroid?

"DIPROLENE AF Cream is for external use only.

DIPROLENE AF Cream is a high-potency corticosteroid that should not be used more than 50 g per week. Using more of the cream could suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis [see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS]."

Answered by AI

Can you buy Diprolene over the counter?

"No, you cannot buy Diprolene over the counter. Diprolene (augmented betamethasone dipropionate) is a very strong steroid medication that is only available with a prescription from a healthcare provider."

Vancomycin for Ulcerative Colitis

18+
All Sexes
Hamilton, Canada

This clinical trial tests if oral vancomycin can safely treat active ulcerative colitis (UC) in adults who also have primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a liver condition. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Can oral vancomycin improve UC symptoms as measured by Mayo score at 4 weeks? * Is oral vancomycin safe and tolerable in this patient group? Participants will be compared to see if vancomycin works better than placebo. Participants will: * Take oral vancomycin (250 mg twice daily) or identical placebo capsules for 4 weeks * Have the option for 4 more weeks of open-label vancomycin after the blinded phase * Attend clinic visits at baseline, week 4, and follow-up for Mayo scoring, endoscopy, blood/stool tests, and safety checks * Track treatment adherence and side effects The study primarily assesses if the trial can recruit 14 participants, retain them, achieve good adherence, and follow protocol procedures (feasibility). Secondary goals include safety (adverse events) and early signs of benefit in UC activity, liver tests, and gut bacteria balance. This pilot will guide larger future studies.

Cryotherapy + Triamcinolone for Keloid Scars

18+
All Sexes
Pittsburgh, PA

The goal of this clinical trial is to determine whether the application of brief topical cryotherapy immediately before intralesional corticosteroid injections can reduce pain and injection resistance during routine treatment of keloid and hypertrophic scars in adult patients. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does topical cryotherapy applied before intralesional triamcinolone injection impact pain perceptions for participants with keloids or hypertrophic scars? Does topical cryotherapy affect provider-assessed injection resistance compared with standard injection alone? Researchers will split the keloid/hypertrophic scar into two halves. One half will be treated with cryotherapy followed by steroid injection, while the other half will be treated with steroid injection alone to evaluate differences in pain perception and injection resistance. Participants will rate pain after each injection using a 10-point numeric pain scale. Clinicians will rate the resistance after each injection using a 10-point numeric scale.

Meal Macronutrients for Blood Fat Levels

18 - 120
All Sexes
Bethesda, MD

Background: Abnormal fats in the blood can lead to many problems, including heart disease. Researchers want to learn more about how eating meals with different levels of nutrients affects fats in the blood. Specifically, they want to study people with too much body fat, too little body fat, and a kidney problem called nephrotic syndrome. Objective: To learn more about how different types of foods affect fat levels in the blood. Eligibility: People aged 18 years or older with a health condition that affects how their body handles fats. Healthy volunteers are also needed. Design: Participants will have 2 overnight stays in the clinic within 6 months. At each visit, after staying overnight, they will eat a breakfast casserole. At 1 visit, breakfast will be a high-fat, low carbohydrate meal. At the other, it will be a high-carbohydrate, low-fat meal. Participants will have a tube inserted into a vein in their arm. They will have blood drawn via the tube 12 times in 8 hours: 2 times before they eat the breakfast and 10 times after. Participants will have other tests during their stays: * A resting metabolic test captures the air they exhale and measures how much energy they use at rest. * A dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scan measures how much fat and muscle they have. * A Fibroscan is a special type of ultrasound of the liver. * A body surface scan uses lasers to measure the total area of the body. * A bioelectric impedance (BIS) exam measures how fast small electric currents move through their body. Participants may opt to have a third visit. At this visit, the breakfast will be high in protein.

Ustekinumab for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis

18+
All Sexes
Montreal, Canada

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate whether disease remission can be maintained when biologic therapy is reduced in patients with Crohn"s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) taking ustekinumab (UST). The main question it aims to answer is: Can we de-escalate UST subcutaneous dose either from every 4 weeks (Q4) to every 8 weeks (Q8) or every 8 weeks (Q8) to every 12 weeks (Q12) in CD or UC patients in deep remission without loosing their response? Researchers will follow UST blood levels, inflammation markers and intestinal mucosa integrity and to see if UST dose can be reduced while maintaining clinical remission. Participants will: Change UST dosing from Q4 to Q8 or from Q8 to Q12. Visit the clinic once every 12 weeks for checkups and tests.
