How Dermatop Affects Patients

Taking ACTAIR has been shown to help the body create antibodies that fight house dust mite allergens. These antibodies, known as IgG4, can help reduce symptoms of allergies by blocking the allergens from being absorbed in the body.

How Dermatop works in the body

Allergen immunotherapy works by introducing small amounts of an allergen into the body, gradually increasing the amount over time. This helps the body build up a resistance to the allergen, and the symptoms of allergies can be reduced or eliminated. The body then produces more IgG4 antibodies, which block the IgE antibodies that cause allergic reactions. Immunotherapy also reduces the amount of histamine released by mast cells and basophils, as well as decreasing levels of other inflammatory molecules. Subcutaneous doses of allergenic extracts may also lead to increased production of certain T-cell receptors and interleukin-10
