How Dayvigo Affects Patients
Lemborexant helps to bring on sleep by blocking wake-promoting chemicals in the brain. In some cases, people taking this drug have done things while asleep that they don't remember, like eating, having sex, or making phone calls. If this happens, the drug should be stopped right away. Lemborexant can also be addictive for people who have a history of alcohol and drug abuse, so it should be used with caution. The Drug Enforcement Administration is looking into how to classify this drug.
How Dayvigo works in the body
Lemborexant is a drug that helps with sleep by blocking the activity of two types of receptors in the hypothalamus. These receptors are normally activated by orexin-A and -B, which are molecules that help keep us awake. When lemborexant binds to these receptors, it prevents the orexin molecules from activating them and thus helps us sleep.

Dayvigo Toxicity & Overdose Risk
Experiences with overdosing on lemborexant are rare. In studies, people who took doses up to 10 times the recommended amount experienced more side effects like sleepiness. If someone overdoses on lemborexant, supportive measures should be taken and medical assistance should be sought. Since lemborexant binds to proteins, dialysis is not likely to be helpful in an overdose situation.
