Effectiveness

How Astelin Affects PatientsAzelastine works by blocking the effects of histamine, which helps relieve allergy symptoms. The effects of this drug can be felt as quickly as 15 minutes after taking intranasal formulations or 3 minutes after taking ophthalmic solutions. Taking intranasal formulations produces peak effects 4-6 hours after the initial dose, and these effects are maintained for 12 hours.
How Astelin works in the bodyAzelastine is a medication used to relieve the symptoms of allergies. It works by blocking histamine H1-receptors, which are located on nerve endings, smooth muscle cells, and glandular cells. When allergens enter the body, they trigger mast cells to release histamine. This histamine binds to the H1-receptors and causes typical allergic symptoms like itching and sneezing. Astelin for Inflammation of the Nose due to an Allergy
I've tried a lot of different treatments over the years, and this is still the best one that gives me relief. I mostly use it at night because it makes me drowsy, but if I drink coffee in the morning I can stave off the sleepiness long enough to get through my day.

Astelin for Inflammation of the Nose due to an Allergy
I started using this six days ago to help with my congestion and headaches. It does make me sleepy, so I'm now using it at night. Flonase wasn't helping much anymore.

Astelin for Inflammation of the Nose due to an Allergy
I was given this medication by my doctor after getting a Kenalog shot. It's very expensive and, in my opinion, does not help at all. Eyes itchy and watery, sneezing, etc. I'm counting down the days until I can get another shot!

Astelin for Seasonal Runny Nose
I was on Astepro, but my new insurance coverage wouldn't allow for that. So, I was switched to this treatment instead. Unfortunately, I wake up multiple times a night now due to post nasal drip and the consequent coughing and choking sensation.

Astelin for Seasonal Runny Nose
I only took this medication for two days because the side effects were too much for me to handle. I had trouble sleeping, felt nauseous, and developed a pins-and-needles sensation in my extremities. Additionally, an hour after using the spray my nose was totally plugged up.

Astelin for Non-Seasonal Allergic Runny Nose
I had some really unpleasant side effects after taking this medication. I felt incredibly tired, my body hurt, and I could barely keep my eyes open. Thankfully, these problems went away eventually. However, I definitely will not be taking this again.

The taste this medication leaves is absolutely vile, and it lingers for hours. I would not recommend it to anyone.
