Effectiveness
How Propafenone Hydrochloride Affects Patients
Propafenone is a medication used to treat abnormal heart rhythms. It works by blocking certain pathways in the heart, stopping sodium from entering the heart cells which in turn reduces how much they can get excited. Propafenone has anesthetic effects similar to procaine, a local anesthetic.
How Propafenone Hydrochloride works in the body
Propafenone helps to prevent arrhythmias by decreasing the speed of electrical signals in the heart. It increases the amount of time that it takes for the heart to reset between electrical signals, reducing the chance of an irregular heart beat. It also reduces the spontaneous and triggered activity of the heart. At very high concentrations, it can also reduce the amount of calcium in the heart, but this does not appear to have an effect on its effectiveness.
When to interrupt dosage
The endorsed dose of Propafenone Hydrochloride is based upon the diagnosed condition, including Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia (PSVT), Atrial Fibrillation and Atrial Fibrillation. The amount likewise relies upon the technique of delivery (e.g. Tablet, coated or Oral) detailed in the accompanying table.
