Metronidazole for Vaginosis caused by Bacteria
This medication has cured my BV three times. It's absolutely amazing how quickly it works; the first day I could already tell a difference, and by the second day I felt even better. This is definitely the only medication that has worked for me and I highly recommend it to others suffering from BV.

Metronidazole for infection caused by bacteria
The taste of this medicine is my only complaint, but it's an otherwise effective treatment that helped me feel better within a day.

Metronidazole for Infection caused by the Bacteria Anaerobes
Though the treatment itself was effective, I experienced some very unpleasant side effects. Bitter taste in my mouth and constant nausea being the worst. I also felt dizzy and like I had developed another sickness on top of what I was already treating.

Metronidazole for Vaginosis caused by Bacteria
This helped my bv a lot. No more bad smell down there which is great. The affects from the pill though weâ??re horrible. Constantly nauseous, feeling like I was gonna throw up. I was super tired, disoriented, dizzy and bad headaches. I wish I got another pill because the affects were so bad for me.

Metronidazole for Infection that causes Diarrhea - Giardiasis
I'm 81 and this medication started working within two days. I've been taking it for six days now, 500mg twice a day, and slowly but surely the problem is subsiding. So far no negative side effects to report.

Metronidazole for Vaginosis caused by Bacteria
I was on the pill for 7 days, and I was so excited to be done with it! This medicine caused me to have mental issues. It does work but it made me feel like a psycho. Also, the metallic taste is unbearable. This medicine also causes nausea; had to drink chamomile tea to decrease the nausea symptoms.

The side effects of this medication were really troublesome. I had a lot of difficulty concentrating and speaking, felt irritable all the time, and was sensitive to sound. Insomnia was also an issue.

Metronidazole for infection caused by bacteria
I developed an infection in my womb after having a polyp removed. The doctor prescribed me 400mg to be taken three times a day, but after only four days on the medication I thought I had overdosed. This drug is too powerful for me and I refused to take any more, regardless of what the doctor said. You must know your own body and listen to your intuition when it comes to taking medications.

Metronidazole for Inflammation of the Stomach Lining caused by H. Pylori
While this medication did kill my h. pylori infection, I have been feeling really off since taking it. Two months in and I'm struggling with constant pressure/motion sickness and a general sense that something is not right. I don't feel like myself at all.

I'm not sure if this is helping. I've lost my sense of taste and have cramping and pain when urinating--to the point where sex is numbing. I hope things go back to normal soon.

Metronidazole for Vaginosis caused by Bacteria
After taking the meds for a few days, I started to notice some concerning side effects like tingling and tenderness on my hip and upper thigh, lethargy, stiffness, anxiousness & trouble breathing. I stopped taking the medication and made my nurse practitioner aware. So far, I haven't received an alternative treatment plan; however, I will never take this drug again.

Metronidazole for Diverticulitis
The doctor prescribed this for me, and I took it twice a day for seven days. The first two days were really tough because of the bad taste and diarrhea. By the fifth day, though, I finally saw some relief. I wouldn't want to go through that again, but it did help kill the bacteria.

Intrapleural Enzyme Therapy for Pleural Infection

18+
All Sexes
Chapel Hill, NC
The goal of this clinical trial is to find out if giving certain medications once a day works just as well as giving them twice a day to treat infections around the lungs (called pleural infections). These medications-tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and deoxyribonuclease (DNase)-are placed through a chest tube into the space between the lung and the chest wall to help clear out the infection. The investigators are trying to learn: * Does using the medicine once a day work just as well as using it twice a day? * Are there any differences in outcomes between patients who get the medicine once a day versus twice a day? * Does more or less fluid remain in the chest (seen on a chest x-ray) depending on how often the medicine is given? Participants will: * Have an infection around their lung and will already be getting normal hospital care, including a chest tube to drain the infected fluid around their lung. * Be asked to give permission to join the study. * Be randomly chosen (like flipping a coin) to get the medications either once a day or twice a day through the chest tube.

Dental Care for Pneumonia Prevention

60 - 100
All Sexes
Jefferson City, MO
The goal of this study is to learn if dental infection control treatment delivered to older adult nursing home residents at their place of residence will result in : * improved dental health * reduced risk of pneumonia * better glucose control for diabetic patients compared to the pre-project dental and general health evaluations of residents and the pre-project facility incidence of pneumonia. Dental infection control treatment includes treating gum infections, stopping or slowing decay with fluoride, and assisting residents with effective tooth brushing and denture cleaning daily. Previous studies indicate dental infections can be inhaled and cause pneumonia or make diabetes worse. A shortage of dentists has limited care for nursing home residents. This project will allow dental hygienists and specially trained dental assistants to treat nursing home residents using telehealth methods (computers, cameras, internet, and telephone) to talk and work with dentists in different locations.

Moisturizers for Aging

65+
All Sexes
San Francisco, CA
This is a randomized, investigator-blinded, self-controlled pilot study of the physiologic response to topical moisturizers among older adults with dry skin. The overarching hypothesis is that skin barrier decline is an important source of chronic inflammation, and that skin barrier restoration with moisturizers can reduce serum biomarkers of inflammation. The primary objective is to determine the feasibility for a larger trial, and the secondary objectives are to determine the extent to which measures of serum inflammation, skin barrier function, and the skin microbiome change in response to moisturizers. Participants will be asked to apply one of two topical moisturizers that are widely available over the counter in the US (Vaseline® 100% pure petroleum jelly or CeraVe® moisturizing cream) once daily for 4 weeks to the front of the torso, buttocks, arms, and legs. Subjects will act as their own control (i.e. they will be asked to apply the study moisturizer they are randomized to for one intervention period (4 weeks) and not to apply topical moisturizers for the other 4- week intervention period). Participants will be randomized in a 1:1:1:1 ratio to one of 4 treatment groups: i. no intervention then CeraVe; ii. CeraVe then no intervention; iii. no intervention then Vaseline; iv. Vaseline then no intervention. At each visit (baseline, week 4, and week 8), participants will undergo skin barrier testing, skin microbiome sampling, and phlebotomy to measure serum inflammatory markers.

Endotracheal Suctioning for Procedural Pain

18+
All Sexes
Loma Linda, CA
The goal of this experimental study is to understand if endotracheal tube (ETT) suctioning increases pain and causes stress on the body in intubated adult ICU patients. These patients are already on ventilators, which means they need suctioning to keep their airways clear, but this procedure may be uncomfortable and cause stress. The main questions this study aims to answer are: Does ETT suctioning raise pain levels as measured by the Critical-Care Pain Observation Tool (CPOT)? Does ETT suctioning increase certain chemicals in the blood (hypoxanthine, xanthine, and uric acid) that show stress and lack of oxygen in the body? Researchers will compare patients who have ETT suctioning (intervention group) with those who do not have suctioning during the study period (control group) to see if there are differences in pain and blood markers of stress. Participants will: Have pain measured before and after suctioning using the CPOT. Have blood samples taken from an existing line at three time points: 5 minutes before, 5 minutes after, and 30 minutes after suctioning. Provide demographic information (like age, gender, and diagnosis) from medical records. This research will help improve how pain is managed for ICU patients who cannot speak for themselves, potentially leading to better pain relief methods in the future.
