Effectiveness

How Lovaza Affects Patients

Omega-3-acid ethyl esters can help lower triglyceride levels, increase the breakdown of fat, prevent fat from being released into the bloodstream, clear out triglycerides faster, and decrease the amount of VLDL-C (very low density lipoprotein cholesterol) in the body.

How Lovaza works in the body

Omega-3-acid ethyl esters help reduce triglyceride levels in the body. The exact mechanism is unknown, but it is thought that the drug blocks enzymes involved in the production of triglycerides, increases fat metabolism, and increases the breakdown of triglycerides. It also competes with other enzymes to decrease the production of VLDL-C.

Lovaza for High Amount of Triglyceride in the Blood

I never have an after taste with this product, and I've found it to be really effective in lowering my triglyceride levels. It's also reasonably priced, especially for a generic.

Lovaza for High Amount of Triglyceride in the Blood

I highly recommend looking into ways to get this drug at a discount; it really helped me lower my triglyceride levels. I didn't experience any negative side effects, and it's been over a year since I started taking it.

Lovaza for High Amount of Triglyceride in the Blood

I started taking Lovaza a month ago in order to get my triglycerides under control. However, after taking it for a month and getting my labs retaken, I've seen that all of the numbers on my lipid panel have gone up by 75 points or more. Everything is now in the high range. I will be stopping this medication today and never taking it again!

Lovaza for High Amount of Triglyceride in the Blood

I found that my back pain decreased by a significant amount after taking two pills per day. Additionally, I never had any issues with burping. It's worth noting that you should store this medication in the fridge, as the heat can cause the pills to become soft.

Lovaza for High Amount of Triglyceride in the Blood

I had been taking Lovaza for seven years, but when my insurance stopped covering it, I was given the generic omega 3. Unfortunately, this caused me a lot of stomach pain and made me feel nauseous, so I had to stop taking it. Now that I'm not taking anything, I'm feeling very weak and my numbers are not good.

Lovaza for High Amount of Triglyceride in the Blood

I stopped taking this medication a week before my prostate surgery, after learning of the possible connection to cancer. I had been taking it for some time before that point, and my PSA levels continued to rise. Thankfully, the surgery went well and I am now cancer-free.

Lovaza for High Amount of Triglyceride in the Blood

Kimberly - I've tried this medication over 700 times, and while it has helped reduce my symptoms, now I have to deal with a really unpleasant fishy taste. Plus, my bowel movements smell like that too. It's gross, but preferable to the alternative of death.

Lovaza for High Amount of Triglyceride in the Blood

I was extremely disappointed with Lovaza; it did nothing to help my triglyceride levels, and was very expensive. I switched to a cheaper over-the-counter fish oil from Costco about a year ago and have seen much better results in my sugar, glucose, and triglyceride readings.

Plozasiran for Hypertriglyceridemia

18+
All Sexes
Santa Clarita, CA

This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of plozasiran in approximately 288 adult participants with severe hypertriglyceridemia (SHTG) and history of at least two prior acute pancreatitis (AP) events not attributed to other etiologies, with at least one occurring within the last 12 months prior to screening. Eligible participants will be randomly assigned in a double-blind manner to either receive plozasiran 25 mg by subcutaneous (SC) injection every three months (Q3M) or matching placebo. Enrolled participants will be counseled to remain on the specified low-fat diet and background medications throughout the study.
