Effectiveness
How Lamisil At Affects Patients
Terbinafine is an antifungal medication used to treat fungal infections. It works by stopping the growth of the fungal cells, which leads to the death of the fungus. It stays in the body for a long time, so it is effective over a long period of time. Taking too much of this drug is rare, so it is considered to be a very safe medication. Before taking terbinafine, patients should have tests done to make sure their liver is healthy to reduce the risk of any liver injury.
How Lamisil At works in the body
Terbinafine blocks an enzyme called squalene monooxygenase. This enzyme helps create a molecule called ergosterol, which is important for making cell walls. When terbinafine prevents the creation of ergosterol, it causes too much squalene to build up in the cell. This weakens the cell wall and causes vesicles to form, further weakening it.
When to interrupt dosage
The proposed measure of Lamisil At is contingent upon the diagnosed condition, including Onychomycosis, Tinea cruris and Pityriasis versicolor. The amount of dosage is contingent upon the technique of administration (e.g. Aerosol, spray or Gel) as detailed in the table below.

Lamisil At Toxicity & Overdose Risk
The lowest toxic dose of terbinafine in rats and mice is greater than 2g/kg. Women are particularly sensitive to terbinafine, with the lowest toxic dose being 210mg/kg over a period of 6 weeks. Overdosing on terbinafine may cause nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dizziness, rash, increased urination, and headaches. If someone overdoses on terbinafine, activated charcoal and symptomatic or supportive therapy should be used.
