How Hytrin works in the bodyTerazosin targets alpha-1-adrenoceptors, relaxing the smooth muscles in blood vessels and the prostate. This helps lower blood pressure and improves urinary flow. Hytrin Toxicity & Overdose RiskAn overdose of terazosin may lead to low blood pressure; this can be treated by having the patient lay down, or through the use of fluids or drugs to increase blood pressure. It is important to monitor kidney function, as terazosin is highly protein-bound and dialysis will not help remove the drug from the body. The lowest toxic dose of terazosin in mice has been found to be 5500mg/kg.

11/30/2010 I've been taking 1mg of Hytrin for several months now at bedtime and it has worked well for me. I get a very restful sleep, dream more often, and feel like my mood and energy levels have increased. However, I have begun experiencing pain and tingling in my hands (which may or may not be caused by the Hytrin), as well as increased hair loss (again, possibly unrelated).
