Effectiveness

How Cresemba works in the bodyIsavuconazonium is an antifungal that targets and blocks a fungal enzyme called sterol 14-α-demethylase. This stops the production of a molecule, called ergosterol, which is found in the cells of certain fungi like Aspergillus, Candida, and Mucorales. The blockage by isavuconazonium builds up toxic precursors to ergosterol, which then kills the fungal cells.
