Effectiveness

How Bricanyl Affects Patients

Terbutaline is a drug that helps to reverse airway narrowing in people with asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema. It is usually taken up to three times a day, and is safe to take even at high doses.

How Bricanyl works in the body

Terbutaline works by targeting specific receptors in the bronchioles. When these receptors are activated, the body produces a chemical called cAMP, which in turn relaxes the smooth muscles in the bronchioles. This helps to open up the airways, making it easier to breathe.

When to interrupt dosage

The prescribed amount of Bricanyl is contingent upon the diagnosed disorder, for instance Emphysema, Asthma and Chronic Cough (CC). The measure of dosage fluctuates as per the technique of delivery (e.g. Injection or Powder, metered) delineated in the table underneath.

Description

Hydroxyzine

Major

The risk or severity of QTc prolongation can be increased when Terbutaline is combined with Hydroxyzine.

Iobenguane

Major

Terbutaline can cause a decrease in the absorption of Iobenguane resulting in a reduced serum concentration and potentially a decrease in efficacy.

Mobocertinib

The risk or severity of QTc prolongation can be increased when Terbutaline is combined with Mobocertinib.

Ziprasidone

Major

The risk or severity of QTc prolongation can be increased when Terbutaline is combined with Ziprasidone.

1-benzylimidazole

Minor

The risk or severity of hypertension can be increased when Terbutaline is combined with 1-benzylimidazole.

Bricanyl Toxicity & Overdose Risk

An overdose of terbutaline may lead to symptoms such as abdominal pain, agitation, racing heartbeat, seizures, chest pain, high or low blood pressure, feeling anxious, headaches, tremors, dry mouth, nausea, dizziness, tiredness, feeling unwell, or difficulty sleeping. Treatment should be stopped immediately and patients should receive care to relieve their symptoms.

Patient Q&A Section about bricanyl

These questions and answers are submitted by anonymous patients, and have not been verified by our internal team.

Is Bricanyl same as salbutamol?

"Bricanyl is a type of reliever inhaler that is suitable for use to relieve symptoms in asthma, bronchitis and other breathing problems. It is different from other types of reliever inhalers in that it is a dry powder inhaler."

Answered by AI

What is Bricanyl used for?

"Bricanyl Turbuhaler is used to open up the airways in people with asthma, bronchitis and other breathing problems so that they can breathe more easily. It can also be used before exercise to prevent the airways from closing if you start to wheeze or have trouble breathing each time you exert yourself."

Answered by AI

Does Bricanyl increase heart rate?

"Approximately a 30% change in heart rate may be observed following 5 mg of terbutaline given orally. The tachycardia induced by terbutaline may be the cause of the aggravation of angina."

Answered by AI

Is Bricanyl a steroid?

"No, the Bricanyl Turbohaler does not contain steroids. Bricanyl Turbohaler dilates the airways by relaxing the surrounding muscles. Steroid inhalers work by reducing inflammation. They are used regularly to prevent asthma attacks."
