Effectiveness

How Aklief Affects Patients

Trifarotene works by activating certain receptors that help change how certain genes are read, which can reduce acne. It may cause skin irritation and should not be used on cuts or damaged skin. It can also make skin more sensitive to sunlight, so people taking it should be careful to wear sunscreen and protective clothing when out in the sun.

How Aklief works in the body

Trifarotene is a special type of medicine that works by activating a receptor in the skin cells called the retinoic acid receptor-gamma (RAR-γ). This activation helps the skin to heal and reduce inflammation. It also helps to control how skin cells grow and how they respond to stress. Trifarotene appears to have effects on other pathways in the skin, such as hydration and cell adhesion, that are not observed with other retinoid medicines.

Aklief for Acne

I had cystic acne for years and tried many treatments with little success. Spironolactone 50 mg twice a day, Oxexton, RetinA Micro - you name it. But my dermatologist suggested I try Aklief 3 weeks ago, and today is the first day I can ever remember where I have zero zits. My face isn't as red, and there's no peeling like there was with RetinA Micro. So far, very happy with results!

Aklief for Acne

This cream has been amazing! I've been using it for about 5 weeks now, and my breakouts have completely stopped. It's great for mild acne too - just takes a bit longer to see results. The only downside is that it stings a bit when you first apply it, but that goes away within minutes.

Isotretinoin vs Tetracycline for Acne

In the effort to find better treatments for Moderate Acne, which often relies on long-term antibiotic use, researchers are exploring alternative options. While Isotretinoin, a Vitamin A derivative, is highly effective for severe acne, its side effects limit its use for milder cases. A recent study from our institution investigated a new approach: weekly Isotretinoin dosing. The results were promising, with acne improvement and no major side effects. This suggests that weekly Isotretinoin could be a successful alternative for moderate acne in both males and females. To validate these findings, investigators propose a randomized controlled trial comparing weekly Isotretinoin to daily Doxycycline over four months. This study could confirm the safety and effectiveness of weekly Isotretinoin, as well as shed light on patient satisfaction, and long-term results compared to standard antibiotics. This research may offer a breakthrough in treating moderate acne while addressing concerns about antibiotic overuse.
