How Podofilox Affects Patients

Podofilox is a more concentrated and stable version of the compound podophyllin. It is used to remove certain types of warts found on the outside skin of the genital area.

How Podofilox works in the body

The exact way this drug works is not known, but it seems to target the enzyme topoisomerase II. This enzyme is responsible for forming temporary breaks in the double-stranded DNA molecule so that it can be unwound and replicated. The drug may bind to these breaks and prevent them from being mended, which stops the process of replication from happening.

When to interrupt dosage

The advocated dose of Podofilox is contingent upon the affirmed condition. The measure of dosage fluctuates, based on the outlined technique of administration, specified in the table below.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

This treatment is very effective. However, it should not be used for more than three days (six treatments). I found that by the second day, it might be extremely painful for an hour or two after application; however, the pain subsides.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

I've been using this treatment for a while now and I recently noticed that my skin has started peeling off. Has anyone else experienced this?

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

Though it burns, this treatment is working well for me and beats out Imiquimod which I tried months ago to no avail. The only downside is that the application process isn't very precise.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

This treatment is effective, but incredibly painful. I was only able to use it for two days before the pain became too much. On the plus side, by the fifth day most of the discomfort had subsided.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

I've been using this medication for half a year, but only now that I'm following the directions to a tee am I seeing results. In just two days, I can already see an improvement.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

Yes, this treatment stings quite a bit. However, it seems to be working and the warts are going away. I have noticed more discharge and odor, but nothing unbearable.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

This treatment was incredibly painful and uncomfortable. I couldn't sleep for two days straight because of it. It's also very easy to apply, but you need to be careful with how much you use.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

This treatment really burns, like others have said. I was too desperate to get rid of my genital warts, so I applied it for four days in a row instead of the recommended three. Now I'm paying the price; it still hurts a lot and I can barely move without being in pain. But at least the warts are gone!

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

I've been taking this medication for over a year without any results. I'm not sure what else to try and it's frustrating that it doesn't seem to be working. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

I've been using this treatment for three days, with the next four being a resting period. So far I haven't seen any results and am wondering if I should go back to my doctor. I'm also curious as to whether or not I'm applying it correctly. Usually, I just squeeze the tube until there's enough liquid to cover the wart. After that, am I supposed to wait for it to dry before putting my pants back on? Or should I use a bandaid? Either way, patience is probably key here.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

I completed the full six applications over three days. I can say with certainty that I will not be doing this again. The burning sensation was unbearable and now I have redness on healthy skin that has turned white. Additionally, my skin feels like it's about to crack open and bleed. The pain is so severe that I haven't been able to get a decent night's sleep. There has been very slight change in the color of the genital warts, but not enough to warrant continuing treatment. At one point, the pain was so bad that I considered going to the emergency room.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

I couldn't make it to the end of the recommended treatment period because the burning was too much. I don't know if that means it would have eventually worked or not, but I do know that living with a burning penis is not something I'm willing to do.

Podofilox for External Genital Warts

I am on day two of week two and the pain is so bad that I can barely walk. I don't know if I will be able to make it to day three, let alone week four. The medicated powder helps just a little bit, but not much. This hurts a lot!
