Effectiveness

How Oxistat Affects Patients

Oxiconazole is a drug used to treat fungal infections. It works by blocking the production of a certain molecule (ergosterol) that is necessary for the fungus to survive and grow. This drug has been shown to be effective against several types of fungi, including the dermatophytes and yeasts like Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton tonsurans, Trichophyton violaceum, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis, Microsporum audouinii, Microsporum gyp

How Oxistat works in the body

Oxiconazole prevents fungi from forming a cell membrane. It does this by targeting a specific enzyme that is necessary for the formation of the membrane. Without this membrane, the fungus is unable to survive and will die. Oxiconazole also stops the fungus from producing DNA and energy, making it even more difficult for the fungus to survive. Oxiconazole also makes the cell more permeable to zinc, which has toxic effects on the fungus.

Oxistat for Ringworm of Groin Area

Oxistat did little more than provide temporary relief from the itching. In other words, it didn't really help me that much and failed to cure the infection.
